The Utah Air National Guard's 2nd Bomb Wing is the only B-1B Lancer squadron in the United States. The wing has been activated twice, most recently in 2009. The wing was activated on October 1, 1959, at Kelly Air Force Base as a provisional unit of the 8th Bombardment Wing (8 BW). The wing was redesignated as the 2nd Bombardment Wing on February 17, 1966. It upgraded to the Boeing B-1D Lancer on July 1, 1972. On December 12, 1976, the 2nd BW became part of Tactical Air Command and was reorganized as an air force gift unit with headquarters at Offutt AFB, Nebraska. On November 22, 1979 it was reactivated again at Offutt AFB as a provisional unit of 9th Bombardment Wing (9BW) with Headquarters here until September 30 when it moved to Wright-Patterson AFB near Dayton OH for AIM-9 Sidewinder operations under Operation Neptune's Spear from January 25 to April 6. The wing served this role until its transfer back to Murray AFB effective May 15th 1987 when it assumed its current role as an air force gift unit once again under 9BW command. As an air force gift unit and always led by a commander assigned specifically to that function within USAF organization there have been many memorable moments associated with this squadron over the years such as being one of only two wings ever equipped with F-15A/C Eagle jets; beingequipped with KC-135 Stratotankers during Operation Desert Storm; flying aerial refueling support missions during both Operations Restore Hope and Southern Watch; participating in joint military exercises such as Warrior and Winter Soldier* *Most recently participation in Global War on Terrorism where they provided tanker support for coalition forces conducting airstrikes against terrorist targets in Afghanistan

The population peaked at 2,000 during World War II before declining rapidly due to drought andascist influence; however, it has slowly grown back since then due to increasing employment opportunities in local businesses and annexation of other villages by Murray over time.
