The North Salt Lake Air Force Base gift history began on December 1, 1948 when the general officer in charge of the base, Colonel James E. Killian, granted an air force installation to the church for its new use as a military air command and control center. The gifts that followed were a total of $8 million over the next few years. On October 20, 1957, General Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin became the first person to walk on the moon with fellow American astronaut Neil Armstrong. In commemoration of this event, General Aldrin presented Major General John Doolittle with a plaque recognizing Doolittle's role in helping bring about United States victory in World War II. The plaque also honored Major General Doolittle for his contributions to the Utah Air National Guard and other branches of government during World War II. In 1979, North Salt Lake AFB was reactivated as one of two Tactical Air Command (TAC) bases within Strategic Forces Command (SFC). This change occurred due to then-President Jimmy Carter's efforts to modernize U.S forces and make them more able to compete globally. At TAC's request, North Salt Lake AFB became home to F-15C Eagle fighter jets equipped with electronic warfare systems and infrared search and track capabilities which made it one of only four TAC bases worldwide with these capabilities. An important milestone in TAC's gift history occurred on January 15, 1990 when another former USAF pilot named Chuck Yeager became one of only five people ever certified by NASA as an astronaut - becoming America's first human being into space! On July 26th 1997 North Salt Lake AFB hosted America’s first international air show which featured RAF Typhoon jets from Great Britain across three days! On October 3rd 2001 after nearly 25 years at NorthSaltLakeAFB we opened our brand new hangar which houses our F/A18E Super Hornet Hornets!

North Salt Lake is a city in Utah, United States. North Salt Lake has been the seat of government for the City of Cottonwood since it was organized as a town on February 17, 1881. The population was 25,083 at the 2010 census. In 1907, North Salt Lake became the first incorporated municipality in Arizona and served as the county seat until 1912 when Tucson took over that role. The history of North Salt Lake begins with its incorporation as a town on February 17, 1881 by proclamation from President Ulysses S. Grant. It was one of three towns founded in Arizona during his term as president; these were Douglas County (later Phoenix), which consolidated with Pima County on January 6, 1886; and Yuma County (renamed Prescott after James Prescott Webb became its first sheriff) which merged with Apache County on April 14, 1912. On November 5, 1907, North Salt Lake became the first incorporated municipality in Arizona when it joined the newly created Navajo Nation following their passage of the Arizona Territorial Act No. 192 entitled "An act to organize certain tribes within this state into political organizations." This act created Navajo Nation State School District #7 which functioned as an agency for education within Navajo Nation and also served as home to Navajoland's court system and jail until 1959 when all those functions were transferred to Window Rock tribal jurisdiction pursuant to an agreement between both agencies signed December 12th by then-President Harry S Truman and Navajo Tribal Chairman Russell Begaye II. In 1913–14 due to World War I efforts by America’s First National Bank headquartered in downtown Tucson to control cotton prices throughout most of Latin America prices plummeted along with production rates across much of temperate Webb Valley so rapidly that many farmers had no choice but to leave or sell out while others found other ways to meet their needs including moving eastward into Mexico where land was available at lower costs thanks largely to cheap labor brought over by American companies such as General Motors who built plants there before Mexican independence arrived in 1910%.
