In 1925, Harry's son, Allen Kugel Jr., opened The Coffee Shop at 2200 S 200 West in downtown Ogden as part of an effort to revive downtown businesses after years of decline due to population growth and technological advances (Kugel Sr.'s business venture). Allen Kabiel continued running The Coffee Shop until he passed away in 1984; it then operated as a general store until it reopened as its own business entity in 2002 under the name Starbucks OGDEN (Strawberry & Cream Donut Emporium). The popularity of espresso drinks made with ground coffee from Italy led other businesses to follow suit and opening their own cafés serving this unique drink type throughout Utah during the 1920s-1970s (e.g., Brown's Cafeteria on South Temple Street ubicated 1924). These establishments were usually called "espresso shops" because they offered espressos along with pastries such as croissants, doughnuts, bagels, pizzas etc.; these shops typically closed down after several years due largelyto competition from Dunkin' Donuts and similar fast food restaurants within walking distance of many cities across America at that time! It wasn't until 1978 when Starbucks OGDEN reopened its doors brand new inside what is now called Tim Hortons Town Center adjacent to Red Lobster Seafood restaurant - this signaled a turning point for Fresh Roasted Coffee trendsetters within Utah! The city continued to grow during these years as new subdivisions were developed along main streets such as South First Avenue and West Seventh Street; these developments added another layer of residents to the community while also providing more jobs for those who lived there. In 1960s through 1970s growth slowed as people moved out of Ogden into larger towns closer to Interstate 15 or other shopping centers; however, recent economic expansions have seen growth resume in both Ozdern and nearby Provo City Center."
