The fort served as a military base until 1857 when it was destroyed by Mormon mobs during their removal from Missouri. However, within weeks of its destruction, local farmers had erected a new fortification called Fort Bridger which still stands today. In 1865, John Dennison became the first mayor of Ogden when he was elected after winning an election against incumbent John Waddell1. After serving two terms as mayor, Dennison moved his family to Provo where he began developing what would become known as "Dennison Heights." With help from his friend with connections within Brigham Young University (BYU), Hyrum Smith2Dennis Thatcher3 (later Apostle), Dennison soon had enough land developed for him to build not only his own home but also several thousand acres of farmland which he dubbed "the Dairy Farm". This agricultural success allowed him to support himself and his family through both business ventures and full time education which he pursued at BYU beginning in 1867 under Phineas Quesnel4 (later First Presidency). By 1888 - just five years after becoming Mayor - Dennison had completed construction on what would become known as Temple Square which seats 30K peopleToday Temple Square marks one corner point along Main Street in downtown Ogden where Intermountain Highway meets Uintah Road He returned to school after serving two terms out of office in 1893-1894 After having been married twice already (firstly to Mary Ann Howells who died young)and having four children by both wives however Jane Addams5 currently holds this record for being America’s longest lived First Lady6 she announced her candidacy for President on October 16th 1904 making her America’s first woman candidate for president She lost but made history becoming America’s second woman presidential nominee following Grover Cleveland In 1908 Ogdensburg annexed into their city limits bringing its population up from 1,500 residents to over 71k today And finally in 1988 they much enlarged Temple Square Crystal Ballroom giving it its current function as an international music festival ground including headlining acts like Adele & Coldplay
