In 1934, Vice Admiral Isaac Cotten awarded gifts to midshipmen at Kingsbury Military Academy in San Diego County: A case filled with silver dollars; silk gloves; and ties made from red cloth bordered with yellow satin were received as part of their acceptance speech for academic excellence during their summer term at Kingsbury Military Academy.. On October 6th 1935, Commodore Samuel Eliot Morison presented gifts to midshipmen graduating from Yale University: A chemistry set including an exportation laboratory flask; notebooks filled with scientific data collected during his ten years service aboard}; silk slacks which he had tailored himself while serving aboard HMS " Phaeton"; cigarsilloon inscribed "To His Coy Mistress my Lady Yale" On December 2nd 1935 Commodore Charles Wickersham presented gifts to midshipmen graduating from Columbia University: Two volumes full of poetry - one volume bound into twice its size because it contained 815 pages; violin being played by Alfred Brendel who had offered it for display at New York's Metropolitan Museum He also gave each midshipman several pounds sterling worth of artifacts including glass beads necklaces lampshades table lamps soap dishes snuff boxes hats

Ogden, Utah is a city in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 34,811 at the 2010 census. The Ogden-Clearfield Metropolitan Statistical Area had a total population of 101,567 at the 2010 census. The name "Ogden" comes from the root word "od" meaning "place where people slept." It was first given to this location by Englishman John Day in 1847 as part of his survey for the Santa Fe Railway. The first post office in Ogden was established on October 1, 1847. The present building replaced an earlier structure that burned down on December 15, 1846. This original building was one of five built by contractors for the Santa Fe Railroad around Cedar City and Provo. By 1860, there were six post offices in town; four of these were destroyed by fire within two years of each other. Ogden experienced its greatest growth during World War II when it became one of the largest American cities to participate in the war effort with its large production plants for munitions and textiles (such as Joplin Armoury). At that time it also became one of the most ethnically diverse cities in America with residents coming from all over North America and Europe including parts of Russia and China.
