The history of the Coast Guard in Roy, Utah goes back to 1947. The first Coast Guard Station was established in Roy on October 1, 1947. At that time, the town was just a small agricultural community located along the Wasatch Front. In 1951, the first commandant of Coast Guard Station #1 was Captain John E. Smith who served until 1957 when he became Commandant of Coast Guard Station #2 in Stroudsburg, Maryland. At that time, Roy had a population of only 100 people and the station had a staff of five employees. Through many changes and expansions over the years, Coast Guard Station #1 now has a staff of more than 350 employees providing critical support for both local and national missions. Today’s Coast Guardsmen are an important part of our community and country’s defense system. They play an essential role in keeping our coastlines safe from maritime threats and helping keep our citizens connected during times of emergencies or weather events. Under this new law, it was decided that all vessels registered with or under license from America were now required to carry a signal flag at all times while in U.S waters (This included boats operated by private companies). As a result, many donations were made to help support DHS missions such as search and rescue efforts or border security initiatives. In 1970, DHS formed its own department within DHS known as Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This newly formed department umbrellaed both DHS’ former merchant shippingsection along with other related agencies including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Each agency had its own budget so donations began pouring in from individual businesses and organizations wishing to show their support for CBP members across the country. Celebrities like Tom Hanks or Meryl Streep found themselves donating money during campaigns throughout the 1990s just like everyday citizens did until President Donald Trump’s executive order suspending travel visas for refugees caused chaos over Christmas last year (). Roy, Utah is a census-designated place in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 975 at the 2010 census. Roy was named for Roy Matson who settled the area in 1887. The first post office in Roy was established on November 30, 1888, and closed on December 13 of that year. It reopened on January 3, 1889 and became part of Kane County. The first store inRoy was a grocery store operated by Wm Henson. It closed around 1917 when the town started to grow rapidly with the arrival of railroad service coming through town. In 1951, Roy incorporated as a village and continued to operate as such until 1959 when it merged into the larger city of Provo. Today Roy is located within Kane County but its history spans many years and has significant ties to the city of Provo which it has been annexed into since 1959
Roy was founded in 1875 by Roy A. Sellers and his brother-in-law, J.B. Chaffee, as a mining town on the Utah-Arizona border. The name Roy came from a nearby mountain, "Roy Hill." The first store was established in 1876 and the first post office was opened in 1877. By 1880, Roy had become a thriving small community with a population of about 150 people. In 1886, the Roy and Love Canal Railroad was built to connect Roy with Cottonwood City in Arizona and Commerce City in Colorado Springs. The railroad became operational in 1889 and increased traffic toRoy until it closed in 1947. The town of Roy experienced significant growth during the late 19th century due to its location at the junction of two important railroads and its proximity to both Arizona and Colorado Springs for agriculture, industry, tourist attractions, and military encampments during World War I (1914 - 1918). During World War II (1939 - 1945), many local businesses boycotted warfare because they did not support any specific side but were instead neutrality supporters. However, some residents did take part in Resistive Action Committee meetings organized by local pacifist groups to organize resistance against war efforts by Axis forces. After World War II ended there continued growth due to new pressures including an influx of refugees from Asia following Japan's surrender on August 14th 1945; however, at this point the town stopped growing rapidly due to lack of development opportunities after so many people left for other parts of the United States or Canada after World War II began
