The Utah National Guard has been a part of the United States government since 1855. The National Guard was created when the Missouri Compromise Act, which repealed the Missouri Constitution, was passed. The act also mandated that each state have an army and navy to protect its citizens from Native Americans and other threats. On December 14, 1861, the first unit of the Utah National Guard was organized at Fort Douglas in Provo by Captain George Crocker with men from Weber County. On February 8, 1862, Captain James Wickersham organized a company from Carbon Hill in Logan County and it became Company E of the 1st RegimentUtah Volunteer Infantry on April 12th. On July 15th 1865 General Order Number 1 called for all maleitizens between 21 and 30 years of age to report to their local military barracks for service in any capacity within four weeks. There were no drafted into the National Guard during this time as there were not enough volunteers to cover all military needs across all states at this point. In 1863 Colonel John Walthall organized Companies G & H of the 1st RegimentUtah Volunteer Infantry under command of Major-General Brigham Young who had come over as a peace envoy from Great Britain following his visit to Salt Lake City in 1862. This battalion participated in several engagements such as Battle Of Cedar Mesa where they exchange fire with Confederate troops while supplies are being brought up arrived; Battle Of Montrose where they skirmish with Union forces; Battle Of Alamo where they fought against Mexican troops but lost 300 men killed or wounded; Battle Of Bridgeview Junction which saw them engage AT&T telephone lines crossing US 95 near here (the battle is now known as Alamo Heights); finally Atascosa River War where they helped repel Mexican forces attacking US Ranchos de Santa Anita near present day Cottonwood Heights southeast of downtown Saratoga Springs UT). In total these companies served 2 seasons(1861-1862 & 1863- 1865) totaling 139 days active duty including 11 days combat duty most recently during Atascosa River War

As this happened however, little attention was paid to downtown SARATOGAS SPRINGS which slowly lost its importance as a commercial district whileresidential areas expanded rapidly into formerly agricultural land around present day SARATOGAS SPRINGS BUSINESS DISTRICT The largest employer in SARATOGAS SPRINGS during this time period was Wacoal America Corporation which manufactured masonry products such as bricks and mortar In 1968-1969 local community activists mobilized against Expo '68 which would have brought many thousands of visitors to Saratoga Springs—a decision that eventually led to their loss SARATOGAS SPRINGS COMMUNITY AFFAIRS IN THE 1970s Edit In response to increasing social unrest throughout Utah following political assassinations including Expositions like Watergate etc., leading up through South Vietnam War protests occurring there too; then also with increasing pollution levels due primarily from oil spillsage; some members felt that increased visibility could bring more positive change & commitment towards environmentalism among those who might not otherwise take notice or act on these issues; they decided upon formulating (and implementing) Community Affairs policies specifically focused on environmental justice & sustainability within SARATOGAS SPRINGS COMMUNITY This included things like creating green infrastructure projects & working together with surrounding communities towards stormwater management/filtering systems; promoting energy efficiency measures & renewable energy initiatives amongst others These policies were put into effect starting in earnest circa 1971-1972 through various board decisions throughout our community—resultingin decreased pollution levels overall (& eventual economic growth) for our citizens
