The Air Force Deployed Gift History Project is a history of the gift-giving tradition of the South Jordan community. The project began in 1978 when Air Force Major General Don Beavers organized a fund-raiser for the then new LDS Church Headquarters in South Jordan. The event was so successful that Beavers designed and instituted a program to give away gifts from military members and their families each year during Christmas season. Today, the Air Force Deployed Gift History Project is an annual tradition in South Jordan, Utah. The project culminated in the presentation of the 2016 Community Service Award to Major General Don Beavers at this past weekend's South Jordan Christmas parade. The reason for this annual event is simple: to give back to our community and honor our military veterans with special gifts that reflect their service to us all. This year's recipients were local civilians who volunteer their time and resources as part of Operation Blessing, which provides financial assistance to families of military personnel who have lost their lives in combat or while serving overseas.

South Jordan, Utah is a city located in Wasatch County, Utah, United States. The population was 12,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Provo–Orem metropolitan area. South Jordan was founded by Latter-day Saints in 1847 and became an official city on July 1, 1907. In 1924 it merged with Nephi and Hurricane Creek to form what is now called South Jordan City. The first post office in South Jordan was established on November 3, 1847, and served the town of Nephi. The name “SouthJordan†derives from an incident that took place there on October 25 of that year when Joseph Smith supervised the construction of a road between Nephi and Kirtland. When he arrived in Nephi to make this pronouncement, some elements of the town had already left for Independence Wells to build a new courthouse there; those who remained built a temporary frame house which they named "SouthJordan". On November 3rd (the day after Thanksgiving), paid timber being scarce in Provo at that time, Captain James Hales ordered his men from Palmyra to go out into Southern Utah and purchase enough trees for two miles square along State Route 24 (now UT 84) near where today's I-15 meets Interstate 15 south of Provo Airport On December 5th Brigham Young received word from Moroni through Sidney Rigdon that Cumorah would soon be available for settlement as well—this news occasioned great excitement throughout Nauvoo because Cumorah – or even just an appearance thereof – could bring forth marvelous blessings upon all who visited her! Accordingly on January 7th Brigham Young decided to move his family into Cumorah while he continued with the building project at Nephi – but only until such time as he could return home again! This proved difficult since no one yet knew how deep down under the earth lay Cumorah! Consequently Josephine recorded: "January 8th we started back feeble & tired….And when we got about 20 miles [30 kilometers] below Cumora & came to a proper stop our hearts did rejoice exceedingly" Ibid., pgs 184-185

The USAF has always been an air force that has deployments throughout the world and this has helped it become one of the most powerful militaries in the world. During its years, the USAF have deployed gifts to many different countries and cultures. Some of these deployments have been more famous than others, but all have had their own unique flavor to them. Here is a look at some of the more famous air force deployed gifts: 1) The USMC’s “Lionel Hatton Sword†– This gift was given to Major General Lionel Hatton in 1946 as a thank you for his help during World War II. The sword is made from high-quality stainless steel and features a lion pommel with gold details. It is now on display at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. 2) A Boeing 747–200 – This gift was given to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Maktoum, ruler of Abu Dhabi, in 1984 as part ofOperation Mapping Hope which aimed to improve relations between Abu Dhabi and NATO member states. The plane was delivered by Boeing Aircraft Company and features beautiful Boeing Design 847 materials on both inside and outside surfaces. It now resides at Dubai International Airport

South Jordan, Utah is a city in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 3,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of theSalt Lake City metropolitan area. South Jordan was founded by Mormons in 1856 as a wagon town on the edge of what is now Kane County. The early Mormon settlers were farmers and hunters who built their homes from logs that they found while traveling through the area looking for land to settle. In 1872, South Jordan became the first incorporated municipality in Kane County and became known as "theGateway to Zion." The growth of South Jordan during the 20th century was due to its location on Highway 481 and its access to LDS temple ground near Sandy. The city also benefited from its role as an agricultural center with large output of crops such as corn, wheat, soybeans, cotton and oats. During World War II, South Jordan played an important role in the production of munitions for the US military by manufacturing artillery shells and aircraft parts. In recent years, SouthJordan has become a popular tourist destination with attractions such as its iconic Latter-Day Saint temple complex and downtown filled with historic buildings dating back to 1860s when it was known as "TheTownships".

The population was 25,812 at the 2010 census, making it the most populous city in Utah and the second most populous city in Utah after Salt Lake City. It is part of the Ogden–Clearfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in South Jordan was David Harker on March 17, 1847. He built a cabin on the east side of South Jordan River and named it "Harker's Mill". On July 15, 1849, Brigham Young called a meeting of all Saints to establish their organization under one roof. At this meeting they elected George A. Smith as president and John Taylor as secretary-treasurer. They also organized two mills - Harker's Mill on the north side of town and James Crain's mill on the south side - which became known as "The Mount Zion Mills". In 1850 Brigham Young moved his family from Nauvoo to JS Rancho de las Palmas near present-day Provo, UT for unknown reasons; however he may have been moving because some members of his church felt that Nauvoo had become too corrupt and Apostate territory should be separated from Illinois so that Latter-day Saint missionaries could proselytize more effectively. In December 1850 Joseph Smith took an wagon train from Quincy, IL to Council Bluffs Iowa with handcarts to cross over into Nebraska where he would start farming what is now eastern South Dakota Territory (the location today occupied by Sioux Falls). After crossing North Platte River into Nebraska via Watertownierville Village he arrived at what is now West Valley City, NE on January 121851 having journeyed 670 miles (1120 km) during a period totaling only 26 days across seven states including fourteen days outside Missouri or Illinois This event has been variously interpreted either as an act of faith or defiance against US government efforts to suppress Mormon activity or both these events taken together demonstrate prophetically inspired leadership upon Josephs arrival in America
