The beans were grown by members of the Agricultural Experiment Station in Logan, UT. In 1944, Tom Benson purchased the Agricultural Experiment Station and moved them to their current location in South Jordan University. South Jordan, Utah is a city in the Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains in the U.S. state of Utah. The population was 23,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. South Jordan also includes two incorporated villages: Godfrey and West Valley City. The first settlement in what is now South Jordan was made by Mormon Pioneers on November 3, 1847, when they set up a trading post near present-day Northridge Park Cemetery. The town started out as a small farming community with only 10 residents and 2 stores when it was platted on October 6, 1851 by Brigham Young, then president of the LDS Church. By 1865, all but 1 resident had left for various reasons including Mexican resistance to American occupation; polygamy was not yet legal in Utah so many Latter-day Saints were willing to move eastward into Mexico; and economic troubles caused by irrigation improvements along the Colorado River made possible by President James Kansa's Bureau of Reclamation decision to build dams upstream from South Jordan Valley. In 1875–76 local merchants formed an agricultural society which raised cotton for export; however production ceased due to lack of markets and disease brought over from Arkansas during that year's cotton crop failures there. In 1886 local businessmen organized an ice cream business which became very successful until 1908 when market conditions changed and artificial light forced its demise). A variety store opened in 1924 followed by a department store built on Main Street (now called Second Avenue) in 1933 which became one of America’s largest department stores before declining sales and closure in 1984 concurrent with other mall conversions around Salt Lake City such as Heber Jerald’s IGA chain). A second major mall conversion took place just south of downtown in 2002 with Sears becoming anchor tenant creating significant employment within the cityscape while another large anchor tenant moved into South Jordan proper including an ABC grocery store (renamed Albertsons after Meg Whitman announced her candidacy for governor in 2002). Today South Jordan remains an active center for agricultural trade with several hundred acres (100 hectares) dedicated to crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat, barley and hay; service businesses include three elementary schools (one African American), four churches (including one white nationalist), three hospitals (two operated jointly by LDS/Church-owned hospitals outside Salt Lake City – St Bede’s Hospital & Medical Center & University Medical Center – both owned by Deseret Healthcare) as well as numerous commercial properties including two movie theaters plus art galleries, restaurants and nightlife venues popular among college students or working professionals who need close access to Interstate 80 or UTSA campus located nearby A recent addition has been new shops being developed adjacent to older buildings such as FirstMerit Bank Stadium—home of NBA basketball team Utah Jazz—and Beehive Credit Union Arena—home arena for WWE wrestling matches . Utah State Route 128 runs through town limits providing easy access to towns like Ogden or Murrayville for shopping purposes while Interstate 80 provides access southward towards Cedar Hills or Provo both larger cities with more comprehensive shopping options should visitors want more than just food items or clothespins available without having leave their car parked right outside any major convenience store

South Jordan, Utah is a city located in Wasatch County, Utah, United States. The population was 25,713 at the 2010 census. South Jordan was founded in 1877 by pioneer George Fenton and his wife Lucy as a small town on the Eastern youth trail which led westward from Salt Lake City. The community quickly grew with the arrival of railroad passengers and settlers. By 1892, South Jordan had become an incorporated municipality with a population of 2300 people. In 1907, South Jordan became the first municipal district in Utah to be chartered by the state legislature. It remained an unincorporated municipality until 1959 when it became part of Salt Lake City proper. Today, South Jordan is home to several major businesses including IHOP (formerly Waffle House), Canon Inc., and GameStop; as well as numerous smaller businesses and organizations such as First Unitarian Church Youth Services and Park District NoHo Park. South Jordan has been called "the Gateway to Zion" because it served as both a stop on the old Mormon Trail eastward from Provo and also served as a center for LDS missionary work in westernUtah during the late 19th century and early 20th century. It helped spur Latter-day Saint migration westward during this time period; today more than 60% of all LDS institutional members are based outside of SouthJordan alone! South Jordan was founded by the Mormons in 1847. The city was named for John C. South, a member of the LDS church and an early settler in the area. The city's first mayor was George W. Smith. In 1850, South Jordan became the temporary capital of Utah when Salt Lake City was destroyed in an earthquake. In 1853, South Jordan became the permanent capital of Utah when Brigham Young designated it as his new headquarters after he relocated from Nauvoo, Illinois. Today, South Jordan is a cultural and commercial center for southern Utah and is home to several churches including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), First Baptist Church, and Assemblies of Godchurch
