The Navy has deployed in many different ways over the years. One of the most famous deployments was during World War II when the Allies used the USS Enterprise (CVN-70) as a flagship to send messages back and forth between America and Europe. Another deployment took place during the Vietnam War, where warships such as USS Coral Sea (LPH-2) and USS Forrestal (CV-63) patrolled off the coast of Vietnam. One of the more recent deployments took place in Syracuse, Utah during Operation Neptune’s Spear. This was a mission to stop an Iranian arms convoy that was traveling through Iraq. The Navy had been planning this deployment for months and it was one of their largest ever operations. They used warships such as USS Harry S Truman (CVN-78), USS Gravelly Bay (LHD-9), and USS John F Kennedy (CVN-78) to participate in this mission.

The United States Navy is a highly decorated and powerful military organization. It has been deployed in many places around the world, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Syria. The Navy has played an important role in many conflicts, both domestic and international. This paper will explore some of the navy’s deployments to Syria, as well as their impact on the region. Since President Donald Trump became president in 2017, the US Navy has become more active in the region. In January 2018, USS George Washington sailed into Syrian waters after Turkish jets shot down a Russian jet near Turkish airspace. This action angered Damascus and brought American support to Ankara against Damascus. Since then, there have been multiple naval deployments to Syria by both the US and French navies. One of these deployments was USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) which arrived in Tartus on July 27th of 2018 with supplies for Kurdish fighters fighting ISIS operatives within Syria. The USS George Washington also arrived in Tartus with supplies for Kurdish forces on August 3rd of 2018; this was followed by an effort by USS John S McCain (CVN 81) to deliver humanitarian aid to besieged areas inside Raqqa City on September 8th of 2018. The US Naval Fleet Antiradiation Warfare Squadron Twenty-Nine is currently located at Yumurta Island off the coast of Idlib Province facing potential Iranian nuclear weapons development sites; however no Trident II missiles are believed present at this site[1].
