In 1971, a group of students from the University of Utah founded the Syracuse Coffee Company, which became one of the leading small batch coffee companies in the country. Today, Syracuse Coffee is headquartered in Salt Lake City but its operations still take place throughout central Utah. Over time, other universities and colleges began to open their own cafes serving small batches of espresso and coffee beans. In 2000, Brigham Young University opened its own cafe serving small batches of espresso and coffee beans made right on campus. Today, there are numerous small batch coffee companies scattered throughout central Utah providing excellent quality cupcakes and creams for those who appreciate fine Italian-style espresso and Turkish-style coffee.

Dutch Bros Coffee served larger batches of coffee and was known for itsSunday morning Breakfast Club which offered pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast,Hashbrowns and more from 7am-10am.

Syracuse is known for its natural resources and cultural heritage, as well as its location within easy driving distance of both Salt Lake City and Denver. The town began to form in 1875 when two Brigham Young University students, George H. Wirth and Orson Pratt, decided to settle in what is now southeastern Utah Territory. From there they developed a flour mill and pioneer spirit that has continued through today. Syracuse's rich history can be found from its role as the capital of the Provisional Government of Utah during the 1850s through to its connection with LDS Church missionary work in south-central China during the 1920s. Today, Syracuse's unique culture continues to be enjoyed by those who live here. Its founders continue to play an important role in society with their contributions to education, business administration and social services. Even after many years away from Syracuse, it remains one of my favorite places on earth - full of friendly people who care about their community and everyone else around them!

Syracuse, Utah is a small town located in the Wasatch Mountains of southern Utah. The population was 2,918 at the 2010 census. Syracuse is the smallest of four towns that make up the Syracuse Center Micropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 8,869 as of 2019. The other three towns are Cedar City, Utah; Provo, Utah; and La Verne, California. The first people to live in what is now Syracuse were Paiute Indians who camped there during the summer months from around 1825-1827. They called it "Hinlopen". In 1828 Brigham Young and his party founded what would become Salt Lake City on the east side of the Jordan River. When they arrived in southeastern Utah Territory they found that there was already a community named Syracuse by those who had lived there for years before them – Mormon pioneers! It wasn't until November 1830 when Brigham Young organized what would become Deseret News into an official publication and set out to find new territory for Saints across America. He also decided that Syracuse would be one of his new settlements! In February 1831 he ordered fortifications built at present day Norwich Cemetery (east side of Main Street) in order to protect settlers from Native Americans living near them. On July 7th, 1831 he made known to the world that he had discovered additional land adjoining Salt Lake Valley and ordered all residents within two miles radius to move their homes or face forcible expulsion! All but 6 people complied with Brigham's orders and moved inland! By October 4th only 3 remaining residents remained in Syracuse – father/son team John Atherton and George Hanks - both men were age 60+. As soon as word got out about Salt Lake Valley overnighter being discovered another group began moving into Syracuse – Mormon womenseeking refuge from mobs seekingto execute LDS men accusedof adultery or any other misdemeanors! Within weeks most everyone had either relocated or died from exposure or disease brought on by moving so far away from home.. On December 5th 1830 President James Kahl announced plans for a wagon train trip through Wyoming Territory led by William Fetterman carrying supplies meantfor Saints under way on their western journey westward… news Of The Great Salt Lake Expedition reached Syracuse just as Nauvoo was burning down!!! Those who couldn't get away quickly enough packed up most everything they could carry including furniture, bedding & clothes onto wagons & took off for Nauvoo watering holes (now known as Red Rock Canyon) where they cooked their meals over open fires while dodging Indian scouts alongthe way!!!!!! It wasn't long before rumors started flying around town about why some people didn't make it back home: maybe someone fell ill? Maybe something happened to the wagon train? No one knew for sure how many people died making that amazing journey………………….. Eagle Creek Massacre: September 20-22 1840 A group of Mormons traveling through Cherokee County headed north on State Route 40 near Eagle Creek passed through Indian Country on their wayTo Cedar City Aug 30 1840 when nine men including Governor John Taylor were killed by Sioux Chief Black Hawk after raiding Cache Valley farmsteads There have been multiple theories proposed about this massacre including claims by some Mormon Settlers themselves that gold nuggets found at site may have been responsible……….
