The Gun Shop on Tenth Street became the nucleus of what would become Fairfax'sgun culture, and firearms such as rifles, shotguns, pistols, and revolvers were acquired and sold here until shortly before World War II. Frisbie was one of the earliest firearm dealers in Fairfax County and his store was located just east of present-day Arlington Cemetery on George Washington Boulevard. At Frisbie's death in 1862, his son-in-law Samuel Colt took over the business for him. Colt began trading firearms domestically and importing foreign firearms throughout much of America during this time period; he also developed a successful line of handguns called "Colt revolvers." In 1875 Colts opened an armory complex adjacent to Frisbie's store on Tenth Street that continues to serve as today's Gun Shop Annex - one of Fairfax County's most popular tourist attractions! In 1903 James Wacoal purchased a shotgun from Henry Hemenway at 801 Naylor Rd., which is still home to Wacoal Firearms Museum (formerly known as NRA Heritage Center). On July 6th 1916 Wacoal donated two shotguns to the Fairfax County Humane Society for use by its staff during World War I; these shotguns are now displayed at NRA Heritage Center.

Fairfax, Virginia is a town in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The population was 7,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington metropolitan area. The town's ZIP code is 22602. The first permanent European settlers arrived in what is now Fairfax County in 1777 and named it for Prince George's County, Maryland (now Baltimore), because that was where their families had originated from. In 1812, Fairfax County was created from parts of Prince William and Frederick counties and named for Thomas Fairfax, 3rd Baron Fairfax of Fakenham House. At that time the county extended to about two-thirds of modern Arlington County including much of eastern Loudoun and western Montgomery counties as well as all but a small corner of Alexandria County. In 1886, King George III granted land east of the Potomac River to John Marshall Baylor for his school system in response to criticisms by wealthy landowners who claimed that American education would not be available to working class people if they were not given access to valuable lands near the river. Baylor's system became one of the largest public universities in America before he died in 1952; it remains one today with over 100 campuses across 36 states and more than $115 billion in assets under management as of 2018. For many years after World War II there was significant growth within Fairfax due largely to migration from outside the townships into larger cities such as Arlington and Falls Church while also some immigration from Ulster New York which has its own enclave within Fairfax on Mason Street just outside Falls Church city limits

Fairfax, Virginia is a town in Fairfax County, Virginia. It was founded by George Washington in 1755 as part of the colony of Westmoreland. The town was named after Francis Fairfax, 1st Viscount Fairfax and one of the Associates of King George III who helped negotiate the Treaty of Paris which ended the American Revolutionary War. The original courthouse and jail were built in 1798. In 1851, Fairfax became an incorporated village and added to the county seat of Fairfax County. In 1924, it was renamed for General Robert E. Lee who died in that year.
