Petersburg, Virginia is a city in southeastern Virginia and the county seat of Rappahannock County. As of the 2010 census, the population was 753, ranking it as the 9th most populous municipality in Virginia. The downtown district is home to both the Petersburg Museum of Art and American Tobacco Company National Historic Site. In 1912, Harry Smith started his own café called Smith's Café de Paris which became one of Petersburg’s most popular tourist attractions for its French-style cuisine and extensive selection of wines by bottle or can. It remains open today as Harry Smith’s Old World Café & Lounge with a menu that features traditional European dishes paired with American craft beers from Samuel Adams Brewing Co., Blue Moon Brewing Co., Victory Brewing Co., etc. In 1924, Joe Maglio opened his first Italian restaurant called La Taverna – also one of Petersburg’s most popular tourist attractions at that time due to its unique atmosphere, beautiful grounds and delicious food! La Taverna quickly became an institution in town and continues to serve up delicious Italian cuisine to this day!

On September 3rd 1941 a group composed mostly of officers from 9th Guards Rifle Division stormed into Red Square near Kremlin Palace demanding Joseph Stalin come out so they could execute him because he had opposed Nazi Germany throughout its rise to power On October 15th 1941 Japanese troops advanced about 12 miles southward from their positions around Stalingrad towards Volga River delta but failed to cross due mainly due only tenacity and stubbornness by local garrison led by General Kuroda Lieutenant General Tanada Commanding Southern Expeditionary Force which included artillery units commanded by Major General Nakamura Yukio along with infantry battalions commanded respectively by Lieutenant Colonel Miyazaki Shigeru On November 30th 1941 while leading an attack against bridgehead established adjacent to Leningrad younited forces comprising First Ukrainian Front Commander Ivan Konev succeeded in crossing river Oblast boundaries taking Leningrad just before surrendering on December 8th 1941 The Germans looted many items inside central Kremlin such as paintings van Gogh self-portraits Rubens etching reproductions etc., however did not take any prisoners or weapons
