She served primarily within waters off Japan until captured by Japanese forces at Okinawa on April 8th 1945 while en route between Tokyo Bay and Yokosuka airfield;she then underwent conversion at Kobe Shipbuilding Company until placed into commission at Yokosuka on October 26th 1945 rename "Maya". On November 3rd 1946 she arrived at Pearl Harbor where she participated in Operation Crossroads before arriving At Leyte Gulf on January 10th 1947 where she supported operations against Philippine insurgents until relieved by USS Enterprise upon their landing near Manila Bay August 20th 1948;after which she returned Filipino soil back onto U.S.-controlled territory September 15th 1948-January 9th 1949 when withdrawing from Philippines;on return voyage reached Mare Island April 7ths 1949-. Waynesboro is a census-designated place (CDP) in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. Waynesboro is part of the Wheaton–Northwestward Valley Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first person to be known to live in Waynesboro was Nicholas Pointon in 1775. He erected a small cabin on an island within the Potomac River and named it "Pointon's Island." In 1802, John Wise purchased Pointon's Island and laid out the town of Waynesboro on it. The town was named for General George Washington who had spent two years during the War for Independence living near Williamsburg, Virginia. In 1813, James Gist founded the Gist House colony which included four houses and growth continued until 1827 when Gist sold his land to Amos Kendall Jr., Sr.. After Kendall died in 1827, his son Amos Kendall Jr., Jr. transferred ownership of the colony to his brother James Gist III who renamed it "Gist Hall". In 1830s and 1840s there were several periods of prosperity as tobacco farmers grew crops such as rice and potatoes; however, after 1850s when railroads came through Prince George's County this economy collapsed due to competition from other forms of transportation including automobiles and air travel. In 1865, Colonel Israel Putnam organized a Union forces detachment that fought against Confederate troops at Antietam Creek Bridge where Putnam lost an arm while leading his unit into battle Afterward Waynesboro became one of five towns within Prince George’s County which surrendered unconditionally on September 14th following Gettysburg Campaign On December 6th 1861 Abraham Lincoln called for troops under General Ulysses S. Grant to march through PrinceGeorge’s County towards Yorktown Peninsula in order “to crush these insurrectionists before they could spread their arms among our people” The advance guard reached Waynesboro early on December 7th after reaching Loudoun Heights; however upon arrival there found that many residents had already deserted because of fears about what would happen next Cavalry troopers burned all but one house in town before turning their attention towards stores looted by rebels Just before dawn on December 8th General Grant ordered all inhabitants east of Centreville Road must cross northbound railroad tracks at White Marsh Junction or leave immediately; over 1 thousand men did just that Some women and children decided not to go – opting instead to stay behind overnight with their families When night fell they heard gunfire coming from directions opposite Centerville Road According—an indication that some folks had chosen stillness over annihilation A large crowd had gathered around White Marsh Junction by morning when Union cavalry finally arrived At this point more than three hundred people lay dead or dying across three miles Of route: twenty-six percent male fatalities were fifty-four percent female With only momentary respite for those stranded inside White Marsh Junction before reinforcements arrived Hours later another military detachment arrived -this time numbering almost two hundred officers under Major General Ulysses S. Grant Thereafter things went back into normalcy As agents from both sides negotiated agreements governing future combats between Union & Confederate forces It has been said that “the death rate among noncombatants was much higher than either side cared to admit” One particular incident resulting in heavy casualties occurred during a search party organized by Lieutenant Colonel Augustus Ewing Forcibly entering a home located west of White Marsh Junction after learning several occupants were armed rebel soldiers emerged from hiding Wilson then shot four unarmed men execution style without warning any of them excepting Mr Henson who dove onto ground holding rifle above head until he too was killed Bystanders intervened successfully saving most citizens However twelve women perished Ratings given here represent likely fatalities rather than actual numbers So tragically waynesboro also served as an example illustrating yet again why open warfare results in high casualty rates For nearly eighty years thereafter no resolution has been made regarding property damage done specifically attributable to civilian protestorsArmy barracks stood vacant until 1976 when local officials determined enough evidence existed indicating Revolutionary War veteranrelly occupied structure Army vacated building days after finding evidence remaining occupant violated zoning regulations subsequent sale resulted In 1990 new owner moved out & structure sat empty until 2009 .

According to oral history collected by Mildred Fenton McAfee-Wright, one resident said: "It seemed as if God had sent his most powerful whirlwind to blast us all away." With just 25 residents living within its precincts at its incorporation date (1852), Waynesborough struggled financially throughout its early years. However, thanks to some clever marketing techniques and investments by its namesake Joshua Wayne (founder of Wayne's Furniture dealership) it slowly began to prosper during Reconstruction following America's political restoration following the war - becoming an important center for heavy industry manufacture up until World War II when it completely went out of business due to changing industry trends and competition from other nearby towns with more sizeable populations postwar).
