In 1974, Don Lubrano passed away and his son Bob took over ownership of CBT. Bob continued to run CBT until it closed its doors in 1997. Today, much like his father before him, Bob Lubrano is a major player in Lynden's coffee history with over 25 years of experience behind him!
Lynden, Washington is a census-designated place located in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 3,813 at the 2010 census. Lynden developed as a farming community on the Kitsap Peninsula southeast of Seattle and became an industrial center after World War II. It has since transitioned to a residential and commercial area. Lynden first appeared on maps in 1884 when James Wickersham surveyed land along the University of Puget Sound line. In 1889, John Leland bought some of what is now Lynden from the Cowlitz tribe for $10 per acre. The town grew rapidly due to its location on Puget Sound and its ability to ship goods between Seattle and Tacoma using ferries; this trade made Lynden one of the most important towns on the peninsula. The town's first permanent buildings were built in 1895 by JC White & Sons shipbuilders. This industry declined during World War I because of rationing but resumed in the 1920s with production of USS " Tacoma ". After World War II, Lynden became an industrial center with production of aluminum cans, automotive parts, pulpwood processing and other products. The area around Lynden was used for military training during World War II until 1945 when it was transferred to Seattle as part of General Order No 1113 which prohibited Japanese nationals from living within 1 mile (1 km) of any U.S.-controlled areas south of latitude 45° north (the border between Canada and Alaska). The order also banned Japanese residents from owning land or building structures inside any American city limits east or west of that line without special permission from American authorities; these restrictions remain in effect today. After the war ended, many people returned home to find their homes destroyed by fire or bombing raids over Japan during Asia-Pacific theater operations called Operation Coronet which began on September 2, 1945 and ended November 15th 1945; this operation resulted in severe damage to cities such as Hiroshima and Nagasaki across North America including Lynden where over 60% of all buildings were destroyed or severely damaged beyond repair.. Since 1948 there have been efforts by various groups throughout Lynden/Kitsap Valley to come together and revive local businesses which have included: forming committees/working groups meetings monthly; holding auctions/fundraisers annually; maintaining website An Open House each year; sponsoring Kiwanis Club outings & golf tournaments.; working together through economic development organizations like Western Washington Economic Development Authority - WAEDA ;and support group organization called “Friends Of Lynden”
