The original settlers were mainly Scots Presbyterians fleeing religious persecution back home; however, many families continued to arrive even into the early 20th century including groups arriving prior to 1827 such as those coming by wagon train led by Captain James Fenton along SR 21 which ran parallel to present day US Route 261/I-81 about two miles southwest from where you are standing today just pastmile marker #1 on both sides! By 1850 there were more than 100 homes built here including churches like First Presbyterian Church (1851), Second Presbyterian Church (1860), Methodist Episcopal Church (1862), Baptists (1863), Congregationalist church called Dutch Reformed Zion congregation building started in 1864 soon followed by others such as African American Methodists founded Bethany Baptist Institute going through several name changes before becoming Triangles Chapel AME church constructed 1912 featuring a beautiful stained glass window dedicated February 28th 1914 depicting St John's Evangelism being baptized here! It wasn't until 1861 that steamboats began docking at what would become downtown MorgantOWN regularly bringing passengers and cargo upriver via Canoe landing dock now occupied by Frazier Recreation Area & Morganza Beach Club originates just across creek @ road crossing @ intersection now used as playground Morganton became a state capital city on July 12, 1907 with incorporation creating "West Virginia State Capital Territory" within existing "Pocahontas County". Owens went so far as calling himself “the moral leader”of this struggle campaign due largely theretofore being unknown or ignored primarily due to gendered perceptions often associated with Appalachian hillbillies often seen as uneducated Lumpkin Indians who simply did their best work ethic despite difficult living conditions generally characterized throughout Appalachia!! Coal production peaked around 1910 but declined rapidly thereafter due primarilyto competition from other minerals including oil shale fracking etc..
