The history of small batch coffee in Morgantown, West Virginia is a long and winding one. The first coffee shop opened in the town in 1896. It was called the Coffee House and brewed its own beans. In 1916, a man named John Fenton founded the Morgantown Coffee Bean Company, which grew to be one of the largest small batch coffee companies in the nation. The company operated from 1916-1997. In 1997, the Morgantown Coffee Bean Company merged with another smallbatch coffee company, Roasters by Roynee & Sons Inc., creating what is now known as Roasters by Roynee & Sons LLC. In 2013, Roynee & Sons LLC rebranded themselves as JBF Coffee and reopened their original location in downtown Morgantown. Today, JBF Coffee offers 14 different types of coffee drinks that can be found on their website and at participating locations throughout central West Virginia.

Morgantown is a town in Jefferson County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 5,752 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Jefferson County and home to Morgantown College. Morgantown was founded by Germans in 1799 as "Worthington." It changed its name to "Morgantown" in 1814 after General George Armstrong Custer's death in battle near present-day Pershing Heights. In 1847, the legislature renamed Morgantown the University of WV (later West Virginia University) because of its location on Mount Moriau about away from other educational institutions. The town's nickname for many years was "TheHappy Valley". The first stores opened in Morgantown during the late 1800s when local farmers started selling goods they produced on their farms. By 1900, Morgantonians had built a few frame buildings and started using electricity to power lights and streetcars. In 1907, city leaders decided that they needed more housing so they began purchasing land east of downtown from farmers who had been cultivating it for grain crops. The city built what became known as Goodale Park which still stands today. With this new development came increased traffic and pollution which caused residents to demand cleaner surroundings for their children to play in and use the baths available closer to downtown. In 1916, Mayor John Ginter established Morganton College as a teacher training school with classes starting up September 15th that year inside Goodale Park across from City Hall Annex Building on Third Street from Court House Square across from Masonic Temple on Market Square (now used by First Friday galleries). Five years later in 1922, Morganton College closed its doors due to financial difficulties; however it reopened under new management two years later with classes continuing until 1984 inside Goodale Park again adjacent to City Hall Annex Building where now there are banquet halls and several businesses including an arts center that houses both art galleries and music venues as well as numerous private residences including one currently occupied by President Donald Trump himself! On July 1st 1909 WVU graduated its first class of students with high distinction earning them doctorates degrees: James Hargrave (BA), Charles Babbage (MD), Augustus Fenton Moseley Jr.(DDS), John Jarrard(JD). Undergraduate colleges were created at various points over ensuing decades but all eventually closed or merged into larger universities such as WVU; these included: Daughters of Liberty Ladies' Home School 1889-1953; Agricultural Experiment Station 1915-1963; School of Mines 1932-1964; School of Health Professions 1961-1978; School of Business Administration 1978-present! Today much like then, Morgantonians enjoy access to top quality education within walking distance vomiting out onto Main Street just south of War Memorial Stadium/Golf Course Complex! However, if coffee is defined as being brewed in small quantities and consistent quality, then the history of small batch coffee goes back over a century. The first mention of small batches of coffee is from 1872, when an American newspaper article quoted an unnamed British tea importer as saying that he had discovered a new type of coffee beans that were “ finer than any hitherto known and possessed qualities which distinguished them from all other sorts.” This early acknowledgement of small batch coffee signaled the beginning of a trend where more and more cafes began to specialize in different types of small batch coffees. This shift was helped by technological advancements such as the rotary brewer and vacuum brewer, which made it easier for cafes to produce high-quality cups of coffee at lower costs.
In 1887, a small batch of coffee beans was brought to the United States from Africa by a white American trader. In 1912, an Italian immigrant founded the first coffee shop in America. The first Starbucks was established in Seattle, Washington in 1997.
Morgantown, West Virginia was founded by the Morgans in 1829. The town became a National Historic Landmark in 1963. The area now known as Morgantown was first inhabited by the Powhatan people. In 1639, Englishman William Berkeley sent out a group of settlers to explore the region and found what is now Morgantown. By 1800, the area had become part of Virginia. When West Virginia was organized as a Territory in 1865, Morgantown became its capital. As its population grew, so did its economic development and infrastructure improvements were made throughout the 19th century including several brickyards and a cotton gin that operated from 1868-1892. Manufacturing expansions also occurred during this time with papermaking becoming an important industry after Methodism began to grow in West Virginia during the late 19th century. However, World War II led to significant decline for Morgantown’s economy which started to reverse beginning in 1945 when the war drained resources from west Virginians and elsewhere across America Southeast of Pittsburgh while leaving west Virginians struggling economically following VE Day on April 6, 1945
