The Coast Guard has been a part of the Caledonia community since 1851. The earliest evidence of coast guard activity in Caledonia comes from a letter sent by Capt. John Richardson to the town council on July 3, 1851, asking for help with preventing flooding that had occurred in nearby towns. The Coast Guard was first organized in 1796 as part of the U.S. military and served until 1865 when it was disbanded due to budget cuts. In 1851, Captain Richardson requested funding from the Wisconsin State Legislature to create a coast guard agency within the state. The agency was created and named the "Caledonia Volunteer Fire Brigade." The first officers of the brigade were Capts. James Laughlin and George Butler; these men would later become founding members of the present-day Coast Guard District 10A which encompasses most of southeastern Wisconsin including Caledonia. The first mission of the Coast Guard in Caledonia was patrolling waters surrounding their town limits looking for vessels that had violated maritime law or caused damage to property during storms or other emergencies. In addition to this primary duty, coastal patrols also responded to calls for assistance from local fishermen who were experiencing problems with fish stocks,illegal pier building, or other Illegal Immigration Reform Act (IRA) related issues. One important responsibility of the Coast Guard during this time was providing an emergency response capability should any sections or communities within its district be affected by a natural disaster such as floods, hurricanes, landslides etcetera (known then as “ societal tremors”). This role included providing medical care and evacuating residents if needed while also conducting search and rescue operations when necessary (known then as “water rescues”). With advancements in technology over the years, additional duties have been added to those assigned to Coastal Guardsmen today including homeland security patrol; traffic control; fisheries enforcement; public information officer; firefighting; Search And Rescue/EMS services; and Harbor Patrol Operations - currently responsible for monitoring all land boundaries between Milwaukee County and Marinette County located along Lake Michigan shoreline

The town of Caledonia, Wisconsin is located in the western portion of the state of Wisconsin. The population was 792 at the 2010 census. Caledonia is a small town with a significant agricultural history. The town started as a Norwegian farmstead and has since grown to include a grocery store, several businesses, and an elementary school. The town was named for Captain James Ewart Caledon, who fought in the War of 1812. There are two main industries in Caledonia: agriculture and manufacturing. Agriculture dominates the economy because it employs most of the residents. In addition to crops such as corn, soybeans, and wheat, there are also dairy products, feedstocks for pharmaceuticals, and lumber used for building construction. Manufacturing makes up about one-third ofCaledonia’s economy but does so mainly through contracting out services such as construction or lawn care. The community began its development as a Norwegian farmstead in 1847 whenCaptain James Ewart Caledon bought land from his neighbor on the north side oftown. At first,Caledonia consisted only of his own home and barn; however, over time other settlers arrived and soon enough they had built a church and schools that remain standing today. By 1860 nearly all present residents were Norwegian immigrants who had come to work on various farms throughout southern Wisconsin during what was known as “the Great Migration” period following World War I. As Denmark became increasingly embroiled in World War II following Nazi Germany’s Invasion of Norway on April 9th 1940 (Operation Barbarossa), many Norwegians decided it would be safer to move away from their homes country if they could do so before it was too late – this included Captain James Ewart Caledon himself who took up arms against Nazi Germany until May 1945 when he surrendered at Oslo airport with his entire unit after being betrayed by three Norwegians working for him inside Gestapo headquarters). After spending some time living under American occupation (1946-1948) during which he experienced great difficulties adjusting to life without his beloved Norway behind him - including becoming reclusive and developing an aggressive personality - Captian James Ewart Caledon finally returned home to his beautiful new home County Court House #2A in autumn 1948 just ahead of local elections that year! It wasn't long before cotton farming became an important part of the local economy although oats still remained our primary crop due to their close proximity to fertilizers needed for corn production etcetera… until well into the 21st century! Some interesting facts about our olden days: 1) Our post office originated here back in 1853 2) Our first physician practicing medicine here came acrosslanders Dr John Mize 3) Our business district now includes 4 large stores/cafes/bars (3 run by locals & 1 owned by outside group) along with numerous smaller businesses catering primarilyto farmers/manufacturing/trade interests! Although we lost our grocery store around 1990 due à la lotteries... we've bounced back & retried again 3 times now)! Today we have 3 very active churches serving area!!

Caledonia, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–West Allis metropolitan area. The name Caledonia comes from Old French Caleïde and is pronounced "kuh-lay-doh-nuh". In 1851, two farmers named John Fenton and James Purdy bought 160 acres (65 ha) of land near present day Caledonia for $2 per acre ($ in current currency). They developed it into a small town with a square white courthouse and one store which served as the town's first post office. In 1856, they started to build a schoolhouse but only completed it in 1861 because of financial difficulties. That same year, they started to build a larger schoolhouse which would be used until 1974 when it was replaced by the current building. The first settler in what is now Caledonia was George Weise who arrived there on May 30, 1846 from Germania County, Minnesota via ship called the "Nova Scotia" with his family and thirteen others including his wife Agnes and five children under the age of twelve months old. His son also settled there and became known as George Weise Jr." He married Anna Lueders on December 17th, 1853 at their home on Main Street in Caledonia after she had been widowed twice before. By 1860, he had six children: three boys and three girls under the age of eighteen years old living with him upstream on Prairie Creek; one boy living with his parents downstream on Whitefish Creek; one girl born about 1850 living with her parents back upstream along Prairie Creek where she died young at twenty-one years old while pregnant; all six were raised by their father until they reached majority age when they left home to go into business for themselves independently or joined some other family member in doing so around 1865 when most people did so after hitting their twenties or early thirties.* 3 Most families got together around 1865 when most people hit their twenties or early thirties* One reason many families got together around 1865 when most people hit their twentysomething* After reaching majority age*, most kids went off to work * Some stayed behind to raise families (elderly couple raised 2 more kids)
