Howard Coffee is one of the oldest coffee roasters in the United States. The company was founded in 1846 by John Howard and his brother Theo. They began making coffee beans from a small crop they grew on their farm near Howard, Wisconsin. In 1915, the brothers opened a store in Milwaukee that became the first modern coffee shop in America. In 1928, they moved to Green Bay,Wisconsin and started manufacturing their own espresso machines. In 1970, they merged with two other companies to form The Howard Coffee Corporation. Today, Howard Coffee is a privately held company with a portfolio of more than sixty products including instant coffee, espresso and iced tea.
Howard, Wisconsin is located in the western United States and it is a town of about 9,000 people. The community was founded in 1876 by George Washington Howard and his wife, Lucy. It became a city in 1893 and then a village in 1907. In 1968, the town merged with the neighboring city of Milwaukee to form the current city of Milwaukee. The first people to inhabit what is now Howard were hunter-gatherers who traveled along the Wisconsin River valley for sustenance. They hunted mammoths and other large creatures that roamed through these parts during the Pleistocene epoch (about 12,000 years ago). After their food supply ran out, these early hunters likely migrated upriver to find new game reserves or else returned home to collect plants and fruits that grew wild in this area. George Washington Howard had an important role in helping shape the community which he named after himself – George Washington Township – as well as establishing schools, churches, businesses and more. He also donated land for farming purposes which allowed many families to start anew after experiencing difficult times during the Great Depression. During World War II, when America needed every farm worker available, George Washington Township also recruited men from all over Wisconsin to work on farms near Lake Michigan while our troops were fighting overseas. As we enter into today’s era where technology has become so important to our lives and economy, it’s amazing how much progress we have made since those hard times when farmers relied on horseback riders and wagon wheels for transportation!

Howard was a small town in Whiteside County, Wisconsin, United States until it was annexed by Milwaukee in 1836. Howard had a post office from 1854-1884 and a school from 1853-1885. The town's ZIP code is 53118. The Town of Howard was platted on April 6, 1853, by John H. Smith and others as part of the townsite platting movement which aimed to provide better access to water supplies for settlers in what is now southern Wisconsin. The name of the town honor General George Washington Carleton who fought against British forces during the War of 1812 and later became an American hero after leading American war efforts in Mexico and Central America. Howard was incorporated as a city on December 14, 1912, under the leadership of Mayor Wm. Gentry. The population of Howard reached 20,000 by 1928 and peaked at 30,000 in 1940 when it joined the city of Milwaukee as one of its five wards within the newly created City Council system. In 1951-1952 Howard lost its charter due to low tax collections but regained it following passage of Wisconsin Act 181 which granted city status to all villages with over 1,500 residents without having to go through formal annexation proceedings like that required for towns with populations over 10,000 citizens In 1954-1955 Howard again lost its charter because there were no new taxes assessed since then; however this time they regained their charter after successfully appealing to the state government for help getting more money for their school and other needs In 1968-1969 Howard voted down a proposed ordinance imposing limits on liquor sales within the city limits; this vote signaled that thoughHoward may have been "a small town" (by Milwaukee standards) it still had some power within its own borders despite being surrounded by larger municipalities
