In 1916, Congress authorized a “gift fund for purchase of new sea-going vessels for use by the United States coast guardâ€. This gift fund continued to grow until it reached $1 million in 1937. In 1941, Congress passed legislation authorizing the donation of land for a new Coast Guard Station at Corpus Christi, Texas. This station would become one of America’s most important maritime law enforcement institutions. Since its inception, the Coast Guard has donated over 20 thousand pieces of equipment including: boats (such as lifeboats), helicopters, jet skis, yachts and other vessels used for search and rescue missions; patrol craft; gunships; marine barracks; schools for seamen; weather stations; research laboratories; hospitals; post offices; tourist attractions such as marinas and visitor centers; and more. These donations have helped preserve our coastline while enabling us to provide essential services such as search and rescue operations when needed most.

Marshfield is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Fox River about 25 miles east of Milwaukee. On November 3, 1836, it was organized as a village and became a city in 1904. Marshfield was founded by farmers from Danville, Illinois in 1836 because they wanted to improve their prospects for business on the Fox River. The first post office was established in Marshfield on November 3, 1836. At its peak around 1840-70, Marshfield had a population of over 100 people. The Panic of 1857 caused many farmers to leave town and there were only 14 residents by 1860; however, due to infrastructure improvements made during that time period and new industry such as foundry production and boatbuilding (the town got its start with boatbuilding), Marshfield grew rapidly through the late 1800s into what is now known as one of Wisconsin's most wealthy communities. In 1902-03 when Milwaukee's incorporation made it an incorporated city rather than just a village%,Marshfield became part of that city via annexation. During World War II thousands of workers came through Marshfield looking for war jobs; many stayed and founded businesses or moved back when hostilities ended in 1945; but some decided to leave after witnessing McCarthyism demolish American society at home (a political movement started by President Harry Truman which targeted communists). Many other businesses also closed down during that time including BLK INDUSTRIES which employed thousands throughout central Wisconsin - some moving back into town once hostilities ended while others bought homes outside of town before moving back into Marshall Fields days later!
The town of Marshfield was founded in 1847 by the merger of two small villages, Moon and Marshfield. The first post office was established in 1848. In 1870, the townsite was surveyed and named for General James K. Polk. The community grew rapidly and by 1882 it had a population of 1,500 people. It became an agricultural center with a large dairy and hog farm complex. A rail line was built through the community in 1895 and helped to drive the farming industry out of town. The railroad closed down in 1957, leading to a decline in population and economic activity. Today, the only remaining structure from the early days of Marshfield is a cemetery that covers an area of about 0.5 square miles (1 square kilometer).
