The history of coffee in Marshfield starts with Nicholas Roederer, who started roasting beans in 1821. Roederer's Coffee was one of the first companies to sell coffee through grocery stores. They continued to roast their own beans until 1961 when they merged with Peet's Coffee Company. Today, Peet's Coffee Company still sells its own branded coffee products under several different brands including Kona Coffee, Bimmel & Sons Coffee, Blue Bottle Coffee, and Caffeine East India Tea. The first espresso machine was built by Giovanni Giacomo Banchieri in 1795. It used water heated by an open fire to make espresso shots at home. In 1870 Angelo Ronconi developed a automatic espresso machine that could be controlled by a user from a distance. This made it possible for people to get their morning caffeine fix anywhere without having to go out into the cold or wait long periods of time for their favorite café or restaurant. These machines became common throughout Europe during the late 19th century and early 20th century due to their convenience and affordability. In 1924 Harry Umberger founded United Breweries which would become Milwaukee Brewing Corporation later that year. United Breweries would continue manufacturing beer until 1992 when they merged with Anheuser Busch InBev Brewery (AB InBev). This led to many changes for coffee within AB InBev such as moving production from Holland to Brazil where it would begin expanding into other alcoholic beverages such as wine and champagne; increasing marketing efforts towards international markets; increased sales among light beer drinkers; as well as controlling almost all aspects of brewing including quality control and pricing decisions

In 1929, they opened a larger store on Main Street which became the town's primary commercial center until it burned down in 1978. In 1954, the Marshfield Coffee Roasters merged with the Milwaukee Coffee Company and continue production today as part of that company's Wisconsin division.

The first post office was established in 1837. The town grew rapidly during the 1840s and 1850s, becoming a small agricultural community with several stores and a school. In 1861, the population of Marshfield reached 100 residents. By 1870, the town had expanded to encompass all of present-day Marshall County.
