Her business became one of the most successful coffee houses in town. From 1906-1971, Dearborn Café served as the headquarters for United Dairy Workers Local 554 (now USW Local 775). Mrs. Geddes was an important leader in developing local coffee culture in Mequon and she is considered one of the pioneers of modern coffee shop ownership and management. In 1971, her business passed away at age 91 years old; however, her legacy lives on through her donation of two dozen cups of coffee to each member of United Dairy Workers Local 775 until 2003 when they moved their headquarters to Racine, Wisconsin due to low demand from local members (Fowler et al.) Today’s Mequon Coffee Company operates under three auspices: Weavers Guild Farmers Market store located at 12th & Washington Streets; Our Friends League Store located at 124 W Main St.; and Weavers Guild Café located at 125 W Washington Street (formerly Dearborn Café). At Weavers Guild Farmers Market store we offer our customers fresh roasted beans direct from farmers while Our Friends League Store carries a wide selection OF espresso drinks including lattes/strong coffees/cappuccinos/mochas etc., all made with love! Mequon, Wisconsin is a small town in the heart of Wisconsin's manufacturing and agricultural regions. The population was 7,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–Waukesha metropolitan area. The first white people to live in what is now Mequon were Dutch traders and missionaries who came about 1634-35. The area that would become Mequon was originally called New Amsterdam because it was located near what is now Madison,Wisconsin. In 1837, landowner John Dickey donated 640 acres (24 km²) to the United States government as part of the Homestead Act. This gave U.S citizens exclusive rights to purchase land in this newly formed country for $5 per acre (1/2 pound). Mequon grew rapidly during the late 19th century due to its location on railroad lines and its reputation as a place where farmers could sell their products directly to consumers. By 1900, Mequon had a population of 3,000 people and became an important center for transportation and commerce in southeastern Wisconsin. A new post office was opened in 1903 by C&O Railroad executive Captain Israel Putnam with the name "Mequon." During World War II, Mequon played an important role as one of several military airfields around Green Bay that supported bomber missions over Nazi Germany from 1943-1945. After the war, many businesses closed down or moved out of town after Interstate 94 was built through southern WI almost immediately following World War II; however, Mequon slowly regained some economic stability until recently when factories began closing again throughout southeastern Wisconsin due to automation and other factors outside of its control including global warming changes which have made farming more difficult across much of northeastern WI while reducing demand for goods coming into southwestern WI from eastern & central Michigan

Mequon, Wisconsin is a small town located in the extreme southeast corner of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 5,063 at the 2010 census and 7,521 at the 2015 estimate. Mequon is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what would become Mequon was George Washington Carver who erected a log cabin on land that he donated to the town in 1871. The town's name comes from French meaning "place where two rivers meet." In 1879, Mequon became one of five towns that formed Racine County and took its name from one of its main streets – River Road (now Main Street). Racine County was disbanded after it merged with Milwaukee County in 1930. In 1937, Mequon became home to one of America's first nuclear reactor plants when President Franklin D. Roosevelt approved construction of Three Mile Island near present-day Wauwatosa as part of Project Aiken which aimed to increase production at United States atomic weapons plants during World War II. The plant operated until 1977 and produced plutonium for nuclear weapons testing; it is also known as Polefish Point No 4 uranium mine. After Three Mile Island closed, workers were transported there by rail for their health concerns following an accident at another nearby power plant called Polytechnic Mine disaster in 1979; however little information exists about this event apart from some headlines and photos published years later.(1) Mequon has been home to many industries over its history: electric power generation beginning with GE Power in 1938, aluminum smelting starting in 1945 and continued through other businesses until 1985 when all operations ended due to bad water quality caused by lead contamination migrating into ground water supplies from old gas wells; cheese making began around 1920s but stopped because Legionnaires' disease killed most workers involved before it could be developed commercially; pet food manufacturing started with Fritos company backpacking troops coming through during World War II; trucking began heading south out of Waukesha during prohibition days so farmers could bring their goods downriver unimpeded while still getting paid on schedule unlike today where companies have bought up rights to roads leading into cities
Mequon is a town in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. The name is derived from a Dakota Lakota word meaning "place of the buffalo." The first settler in Mequon was Nicholas Nitschke. He arrived in 1836 and Indian Territory was organized into Grant County on November 3, 1836. On December 22, 1837, Grant County was divided into Racine and Mequon counties. On February 20, 1840, Racine County was merged into Milwaukee County. The first post office in Mequon was established on March 5, 1840. It served as the home of Postmaster General John Kapp until his death on October 26th of that year. In 1868-69WWI veteran George Hargrave built a farmstead near present day Mequon and named it after himself; he laid out what is now town square (now part of Eau Claire). In 1870–71WWII veteran Jens Hansen built a farmstead east of current day Highway 44 and named it after himself – he laid out what is now the eastern edge of town square. The first store opened in what is now Midtown Square in 1892 by Granville Matson and later became known as Jack's grocery store which still stands today across from the Public library downtown!
