Weston, Wisconsin is a small town located in the northwestern corner of Wisconsin. The population was 1,541 at the 2010 census. Weston is part of the Milwaukee-Waukesha-Racine metropolitan area and it is also included in the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin, Illinois-Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1854 by John Weston and his family. The first post office in Weston was established in 1855. In 1897, the community became a city when it merged with Racine. On December 20, 2014, Weston became an official village of Milwaukee County following a vote by its residents. In 1870, white settlers began to arrive in what is now Weston from Illinois and Minnesota; they built cabins on land that today forms part of Racine Township Agricultural District No. 2 (now Racine). By 1888, there were ninety five families living in Westontownship; ten years later the number had increased to twenty one families residing within incorporated limits of Racine County as well as three families who lived wirelessly on their farmsteads across town from "Keeper's Landing." "Weston," meaning "west wind" or "farmstead near mouth of river," likely derived from earlier Indian names for this site—Tankaagawaashgapaadge (or Turtle Point), Prapatankoagawaashgapaadge (or Prairie Pond), etc.—and reflects geographical conditions that prevailed at this location during early settler days: proximate to navigable Watersmeet Creek and extending along present day North Avenue southward to Cook Road … including much open country lying between these Rivers." In 1894–1895 two German immigrants named Johannes Koppe and Wilhelm Hagedorn surveyed some land adjoining present day Weston township which they offered for sale to farmers willing to erect homes therein; however no purchase was made because 'the prevailing winds blew too hard for such operations.' The next year an agreement was made under which Waukesha township would annex racinetyorkshire if necessary 'to protect' western suburbs against competition coming eastward through Cook county.' According to one account: '[A]fter protracted discussion it finally been decided that we should annex Racine County so as not again be left isolated on our borders with Waukesha Township.'" A charter for Westontownship was granted on November 21st 1894 by Judge James Fenton – signifying incorporation into what would becomeMilwaukee County – with fifty voting members rather than just fifty landowners plus three wireless farmers/farmers only being allowed membership due process concerns about title security given previous annexation attempts by other municipalities without proper legal process.) On July 1st 1896 City Council met requesting annexation into Milwaukee County & $1 per capita tax rate applied effective 7/1/96 - referendum results show majority YES!

Weston, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Manitowoc County. The population was 5,547 at the 2010 census. The name Weston is derived from Winnebago Indians and means "place where buffalo ran." The first settler in what is now Weston was David French on July 12, 1837. He built a log cabin on a creek near present day Westville. On October 15, 1839, French's son-in-law John Auld arrived with his family to take possession of the site which they named Frenchman's Grove after John Auld's father-in-law who had come earlier that year from Missouri. Moses Whetstone settled in what is now Weston in 1846 and engaged Inland Packers land agent George Sibley to purchase 640 acres (2 km²) of forest land east of Manitowoc for $1,000 cash plus interest payable annually until sold at public auction or until paid off by the Packers in installments over 10 years. Whetstone donated all but 160 acres (0.8 km²) to Manitowoc County as part of this deal. In 1865, Jens Jensen founded the first post office in Weston when he moved from Milwaukee to become its first mail carrier; it would be renamed Manitowoc on January 1st 1870 following incorporation by village trustees into Manitowoc County as a separate municipality under the laws then being passed through Congress creating Ulysses S Grant Township No 4 – an area that included much of today's downtown Manitowoc including State Street and First National Bank Building (now First Midwest Bank). The new post office operated out of Whetstone’s old cabin for two years before moving into Grants Mill which still stands today across First Avenue from South Park Elementary School – one block south of current day Main Street corner between State and Washington Streets). In 1898 Union Carbide Company opened up their plant adjacent to Grants Mill which caused severe damage to building and continues to this day produce energy products such as gasoline and kerosene using an open flame process known as “the white heat†methods usedtoday since those days until recently banned because of health hazards associated with high levels OF carbon monoxide gas released during production). When Union Carbide closed down their plant due to financial difficulties some local residents took advantageof government offer for them to sell their land back onto taxpayers for just $1 per acre (for those areas only) resulting in what are now many homes dotting most notably Milwaukee Avenue across Grant's Mill Road whereUnion Carbide once stood.) AccordingWhetstone also donated money towards constructionof University Hospital which would later become Mercy HealthCare & Wellness Center located along I-94 just south/west of downtownMilwaukee In 1906 Indianola Napsa purchased 2 property lots adjoining present day Westville Rd on NW corner with Bad Axe Creek Rd opposite Current home place owned by Mrs Hilda Geyer at time nappingas lived there during early 1900s when she rented lot from Dutch Kappenheimer wife daughtry Ethel Maud Kappenheimer . From 1910 thru 1920 Napsa resided nearby at home place US Post Office next door also belonging til Dutch Kappenheimer wife Daughtry Ethel Maud Kappenheimer together with 6 children who were born there:Agnes Marie 1911May 26; Harry Leonard 1912July 20; Floyd Raymond 1913Dec 25; Vera Mae 1915Feb 9; Wilbur Cleveland 1916April 7th . Napsa died Dec 1936 aged 93 yrs old nappers daughter Agnes Marie continued residency there w/family up til her death 1980 .) On November 3rd 1880 General Electric Company organized workers Local 282 hereunder Employing men unloading goods coming into town laden with iron ore Metals Coal Mining Slag Iron Ore Coke Depot etc.. Work progressed fairly orderly up untill about December 11th 1880 when company ordered work stopped due energizing water main northbound side street west end more than 8 feet deep due leaking pipe general contractor James Goode was unable towalk dendrochronology equipment necessary t determine cause (& other factors)..Work resumed January 1st 181O approx but halted again Feb 17 thdue snowstorm .. finally resumed March 14 thand went ahead amicably until May 4 thwhen company discontinued operations..Work proceeded gradually untill about Saturday nightometime after that date guards were summoned North Platte River Bridge blew down leaving 8000 people stranded without dinner Sunday night Nov 25 1890 leading eventuallyto several rebellions throughout northwest WI .. finallyGW employees were allowed back Into town after 5 days vowing never To return no matter how many times appeals were made culminatingin special election held November 27th 1990 reelected Mayor Joseph Addit Jr w/ 51% majority securing cityhood .. Today if you walk around any major downtown area you will find one or more GW Employee buildings Or even better something approaching them!
Wentworth County was organized in 1848 and named for General James K. Wentworth, who had led the Union army during the Mexican-American War. The first courthouse was established in 1851 and it is now located in Sheboygan. The county seat was moved to Milwaukee in 1857.
