The Gulf Shores Coast Guard Station has been providing law enforcement and emergency services to the community since 1915. The Coast Guard’s mission is to protect life, property, and maritime interests in the Gulf of Mexico and adjacent waters. The Station was organized on July 1, 1915 as part of the Alabama State Police Department. The Headquarters were moved from Mobile to Pensacola, Florida in 1951. In 1966, the Headquarters relocated again when the state government was transferred from Mobile to Montgomery. It served as an Operations Center for both Sheriff’s departments until it closed in 1989. The Commandant’s Office continued operations until it vacated its premises on Miller Avenue in Gulf Shores in 1992. On September 10th, 1995 a new Commandant’s Office was dedicated at the Station with Rear Admiral J.D Larkin as Superintendent/Commandant effective October 1st, 1995 In December 2004 a new helicopter hangar was dedicated at the station which became operational on February 3rd 2005 On May 8th 2006 a brand new boat slips were opened at the station which replaced an old slip located on Bay Street which had been used by local fishermen for many years A port authority dock has also been built at the station which allows larger vessels access to berth while still allowing smaller vessels access while they wait their turn

Gulf Shores is a town in Bibb County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1876 and named for Gulf of Mexico. Gulf Shores is located on the shores of Pensacola Bay and it straddles the line between Pensacola Beach and Mobile Bay. The first Europeans to encounter the area were the Spanish who came ashore in 1534 during their attempt to find a route to Cuba. They named this area "Gulf de la Florida" after their ship discovered this body of water about east of what is now Pensacola Beach. In 1836, General John Covington established Fort Gaines here as part of his effort to control access to Mobile Bay from Spanish Louisiana. By 1840, most of Alabama had become part of the United States and Gaines's fort was abandoned. The name "Gulf Shores" was chosen for its location on Pensacola Bay between MobileBay and GulfofMexico; it has been reported that locals had difficulty pronouncing "Pensacola" so they decided on "GulfShores". In 1876, when Gulf Shores became a community, it consisted only of a few homes along with some boats moored at one point near present-day Point Comfort Park. By 1890, due to an increase in cotton production in nearbyMobile County (then part of Alabama), more people moved into Gulf Shores including many women who worked at local mills until World War II when those mills closed down because Ofstanders destroyed them with explosives flooding the floors below which made slave labor impossible. Many residents self-identify as being primarily white while many African Americans lived through various periods throughout history within white society before becoming citizens or residents within black majority areas today such as Jackson County south central Alabama where there are very few African American residents although there have been recent efforts by descendants among others to try and recollect some long lost African American culture hereabouts During 2000-2010 Census period approximately 167 households out of 1,813 total recorded in Bibb County identified themselves as “African American” making up 3% or less thereof In 2000-2010 Census period there were no open seats available for Community Development Block Grant funds which helped spur redevelopment opportunities around these parts especially considering that HUD Guidelines recommend increased diversity & representation through block grants programs A study conducted by US Department Of Housing And Urban Development showed that significant disparities exist despite progress made & recommended actions needed if disparities continue

On January 1st 1917 the first cutter, CG-1 was launched. By 1919 there were eleven cutters on duty along the Atlantic coast. In 1927 the first helicopter squadron was activated and by 1934 there were twenty-one helicopters operating off the US East Coast.
Gulf Shores is a town in the Alabama Panhandle, United States. The population was 3,752 at the 2010 census. It is the largest town on the Mobile-Tensaw River corridor and one of the most densely populated towns in Alabama. The town is named after Gulfport Bay on Mobile Bay, where Spanish ships used to berth for supplies during their voyages to Mexico City. The first settlers in Gulf Shores were people who came from Georgia before they moved westward along the Alabama River into what is now Gulf Shores in 1824. They were part of a larger group that traveled through what is now Mobile County and founded several other settlements along the way including Athens, Ala., Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Fort Payne. These pioneers were followed by others who arrived over time as cotton became an important crop in this region. By 1850, there were more than 500 people living in Gulf Shores and it had become known as a major port of call for travelers heading down the Mobile-Tensaw River corridor. The town was chartered under state law on February 6, 1851 and named after Captain John Ladds who commanded a sailing ship called "HMS Arabesque" when he made landfall here on December 16, 1849 with his crew of 11 men looking for new land to explore after leaving Acapulco on Mexicali Peninsula. In 1865, whenMobile county was created from parts of Alabamian counties (later renamed Jefferson County), Gulf Shores became part of that county as well having been located within its limits since its establishment. At that time it contained only about 60 acres (24 hectares) of land but by 1900 it had grown to include more than 1 million square feet (93 hectares) of land and 4500 citizens. During World War II many local businesses participated in creating munitions production plants such as Ford Motor Company’s Ridgeway Arsenal which manufactured B-29 planes for bombing raids against Japan; General Motors’ Plant #2 which produced trucks for troops fighting in Europe; Lockheed Aircraft Corporation’s Plant #3 which developed America’s first nuclear bomb; Bell Telephone Company’s Plant #4 which manufactured voice equipment; Raytheon Missile Systems Incorporated’s Factory No 5 which designed guidance systems for ballistic missiles
The first Europeans to arrive in Gulf Shores were the French in 1821, who built a trading post on the bay. The British also arrived at some point but their presence is not documented. In 1828, a group of Africans was brought over by Captain John Foulke and landed on the bay. They were given land and started to farm. The town began to form when white settlers arrived in 1836. By 1840, the town had about 100 residents.
