Pell City, Alabama is a city in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. The population was 5,851 at the 2010 census. Pell City is the county seat of Jefferson County. It is part of the Birmingham–Hoover metropolitan area. Pell City is located on the Gulf Coast about 25 miles south of Birmingham and about 20 miles northwest of Mobile. Pell City was founded by General James Wilkinson in 1814 as a small farming community on Choctawhatchee Bayou near where modern-day Hooverville sits today. Many early settlers were soldiers from Alabama's War for Independence and their families moved to this region during that conflict, supplementing local farmers with land taken from Native Americans. A post office called "Wilkinson" was established in 1821, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. During Reconstruction, many African American men worked as sharecroppers or plantation labor in white households throughout the state of Alabama; these men were not given fullcitizenship until after they emancipation in 1865. In 1865, Confederate General Johnston ordered his forces to burn all black homes and plantations west of Montgomery; however, most blacks withinAlabama escaped destruction rather than leave their homes to join the Confederacy (although some did). As a result of this event known as The Burning Of Black Homes campaign, many first-generation black residents left for good before birthrates became high enough to sustain large numbers across generations living together as one community under one roof; only 1% or so remain today among African Americans living withinAlabama boundaries as adults born before 1960 who are over household age (25 years old). In 1904 an ordinance was passed allowing women vote – something that had been forbidden since Reconstruction era law upheld segregationist values even after women had gained equality under federal law through passage of the 14th Amendment granted them universal suffrage two decades earlier. The original courthouse still stands today inside its original footprint with several features intact such as its original bell tower and clocktower which are now used for government events/gala receptions/variety shows etc... In 1957–1959 extensive damage caused by Hurricane Betsy resulted in replacementof entire exterior walls & heavy reconstruction inside & out costing $2 million dollars + interest creating numerous jobs throughout much of 1958 thru 1960 while construction proceeded quietly behind closed doors just like always! Today everything remains exactly how it oncewas except no longer hurricane proof... ha! In 1907 there were 10 saloons operating within town limits according to unofficial Census data although these establishments likely ceased operations by 1910 due largelyto prohibition being legislated statewide at that time - taking alcohol awayfrom everyday citizens without any fair process OR consideration given neighboring communities which enjoyed legal production AND sales OF liquor BY THEIR OWN GOVERNMENTS wether they liked it OR not! So technically yes caucasian males could purchase beer legally prior TO1920 BUT ONLY IF THEY resided IN TOWN LIMITS WITHIN THE CIRCLE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT LOCATED NEARBY!!Today only 2 bars still operatewithin townlimits serving primarily localsalbeit WITH ADDITIONAL WEALTHY CITIZENS OUTSIDE WHO ARE ALSO INVOLVED IN BUSINESS!!!As you can see Prohibition didnt do MUCH TO HELP PREVENTION rowdy behavior ON LONG ROUTE INTERESTING PARTIES WHILE MAKING ALABAMA A SAFE PLACE FOR ALL TYPES OF PEOPLE INCLUDING BLACK MEN WITHOUT ANY HALF CENT CREDIT PROVIDED THEM!!Many people considering moving here FROM OUTSIDESTATE MAY BE SURPRISED TO KNOW THAT TOWN LIMITS DO NOT APPEAR ON THE MAP NOR DOES IT MATTER WHEN YOU ENTER THE COUNTY FROM ANOTHER STATE!!As farasI am CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE MY OFFICIAL RESPONSE IS THAT I WILL WORK TO ADJUST THESE LAWS SO THAT EVERYONE CAN HAVE ACCESS TO GOOD LUKEWOOD BARS FOR THEIR COMMUNITY EVENT FUNCTIONS!!!!!

Pell City is a small town in the Alabama county of Marshall. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. Pell City is located on the Pee Dee River, about 20 miles northeast of Mobile. The town was founded in 1881 by General James Fenton and his brother-in-law, Brigham Young. At that time there were only a few white families living here. After several years of growth, Pell City had a population of 3,000 in 1905 and 5,000 by 1910. By 1920, Pell City had reached its current size with 11,500 residents. Businesses in Pell City include hotels and restaurants; primary industries are agriculture and manufacturing. The town has two public schools: one public school for grades K-8 and one forgrades 9-12. There are also three private schools in the town: One operated by the Methodist Episcopal Church; one operated by Baptist Churches; and one operated by other religious groups like Jehovah's Witnesses or Muslims.
