In 2013, Anchor Brewing Co. opened its doors to serve fresh roasted coffee from their own roasting operations located on the Anchorage waterfront. Fairbanks, Alaska is a small town in the Brooks Range of the Interior Mountains located on the Kenai Peninsula. The population was 2,515 at the 2000 census. It is part of Anchorage County and consists of a downtown core surrounded by rural countryside. The climate here is cold and severe with very little vegetation other than tundra. The first European to sight Fairbanks was Captain Christopher Fenton during his sealing voyage from Russia to North America in 1807-08. He named it "Farlow" after himself and instructions were given for ships to stop at a landing place called "Farlow's Inlet." A wharf was built there but no permanent settlement developed because of lack of food, water or transportation resources. In 1941, Fairbanks became an administrative center for both Anchorage County and Kunak Borough following their merger. Prior to that time they were separate municipalities. Tillotson Dam was completed in 1942 providing electricity for the community which had been without it since 1924 when construction began on what would become known as the Alaska Pipeline Company's (AEP) $5 million project to provide oil transportation from Valdez Island in southern Alaska to Fairbanks via Cook Inlet on Kodiak Island. The dam also created Lake Iliamna which forms much of today's downtown area as well as parts of Museum Hill and Southside neighborhoods east of Iliamna Boulevard between University Way and US Highway 3 southward along US Highway 1 southward until it reaches US Highway 12 southeastward where it bends northeastward into intermittent mountain ranges before terminating at Point Hope Bay outside Ofalia Naval Air Station northof Point Hope Harbor on Kodiak Island

Chester Nimitz helped develop what is now Fairbanks into one of the most advanced cities in North America – becoming well-known for his innovation efforts such as creating Anchorage’s first light rail system and developing Arctic oil drilling methods which later led to Shell Oil Corporation’s establishment here in 1959.* As recently as 2000*, Fairbanks was home to just over 2,000 residents**; but today it boasts a population over 10,000***! The city has experienced significant growth across all demographics since its inception – including waves of refugees fleeing natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina or 9/11* alike*.
