The history of the National Guard in Camp Verde, Arizona can be traced back to1927. At that time, the United States Military Government established a military reservation within the limits of present-day Camp Verde. The first national guard unit to arrive on this reserve was Company A, 9th Infantry Regiment, which arrived on October 15, 1927. Company B also arrived in 1928 and Company D came into being in 1929. The 9th Infantry Regiment was soon joined by Companies C and F from the 1st Cavalry Division stationed at nearby Fort Sill. These companies were organized into a battalion under command of Major General Charles Wickersham and given their own post at Camp Verde. On July 1, 1931, all units of the National Guard were combined into one brigade under command of Brigadier General James Melson. This brigade was redesignated as the 4th Brigade, Arizona National Guard and placed under the jurisdiction of Headquarters Eighth Army at Tucson. During World War II there was an increase in activity at Camp Verde due to both patriotic sentiment and support for military service by residents who felt that their community would not be able to provide its full complement of defense personnel during wartime because it had no airfield or other essential military facility necessary for such a effort. On December 3rd 1941 as part of Operation Torch it became apparent that war with Japan was imminent so on January 8th 1942 all units including those from Fourth Brigade were ordered back home pending further orders from Headquarters Eighth Army commanding general George Patton Jr.. The order stated "All forces must report immediately to our installations east coast unless otherwise notified" . When hostilities ended on September 2nd 1945 all units but those still assigned back east reported home leaving only Companies A and B from Ninth Infantry Regiment behind which remained active until November 1945 when they disbanded following demobilization ceremonies at Ft Benning Georgia .

Camp Verde is a small, but popular summer camp located in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The camp has been around since the early 1920s, and today it is one of the most popular camps in Arizona. The vast majority of students at Camp Verde are children from families with incomes below poverty lines. With an enrollment of just over 350 students in 2017, Camp Verde remains a small operation, but its programs make a real impact on the lives of its participants. One key aspect of Camp Verde’s success is its focus on physical education and outdoor activity. In addition to traditional archery and fishing tournaments, CampVerde offers day camps that teach kids about horseback riding and camping skills. The school also sponsors several music festivals each year that bring together classical and modern musicians from all over the United States. The emphasis on physical education helps to create a Environment that supports intellectual development as well as social interaction among students. Children learn to work together for common goals while exploring their creativity and potential for future success.

The National Guard has been around since the Revolutionary War. The first national guard units were raised in 1792 during the war for independence. The Guards served as a militia and police force until 1861 when they were merged into the Union Army. Today, there are over 120,000 active duty members of the National Guard scattered throughout America. The National Guard has been a part of the United States since 1790. The first unit to be called the National Guard was organized on July 14, 1790, when militia units were posted at various points in the colonies. On November 8, 1800, President George Washington ordered all states to create national guard regiments and batteries. The first regiment of National Guards was formed in New York on December 15, 1800. The armories and recruiting centers were set up throughout the country by March 1, 1802, and troops began being sent to Fort Donelson in Tennessee on April 10th. The Battle of Nashville took place on October 9-10th and after a hard fought battle the Union army emerged victorious with few losses suffered by their opponents. Throughout the 19th century there was increased military demand for troops due to various events such as the War of 1812 (1812-15), Mexican-American War (1846-48), and American Civil War (1861-65). In 1865 Congress authorized an additional 150 thousand men for service in time of peace while also authorizing legislation that would make it easier for volunteers to join the military without risking their civil rights or social security benefits. On July 16, 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt designated all Regular Army infantry divisions into two brigades each with headquarters located at Fort Myer in Arlington Virginia; this action marked a shift from individual battalion commanders who had ruled since before World War I when armor had become dominant warfare doctrine. This organizational change effectively ended normal battalion command structure within infantry divisions which reverted back to battalion commander type command organization following World War II until brigade control became operational during Vietnam era operations.

Camp Verde was a United States military and civilian camp located in central Arizona, on the Verde River. The site was first established by General George B. McClellan during the Mexican-American War as a supply depot for his army. It was later enlarged to serve as an army post and cavalry training ground. After the end of the war, Camp Verde became a military hospital and eventually was abandoned in 1942 due to World War II troop movements. However, it continued to be used as a recreational area until 1984 when it closed its gates permanently. The first occupants of Camp Verde were American soldiers who fought in Mexico under General John D. Rockefeller’s command in 1846-1847. In 1874, Apache Chief Cochise made an attack against Ulysses S. Grant’s forces at Fort Defiance near present-day Phoenix and forced the surrender of about 100 American soldiers under Brigadier General James Harkness Jr.. This event is generally considered to be the beginning of Camp Verde’s history as an Army post. In 1901, Camp Verde served as headquarters for Major General Albert Sidney Johnston's Third Cavalry Division during World War I; it also housed artillery batteries drawn from Fort McDowell on nearby Mescalero Hill (now part of Scottsdale). The post was redesignated First Infantry Brigade Combat Team (1st IDCT) on 1 October 1944 after First Infantry Division became activated at Fort Riley, Kansas Territory; concurrently with this change 2nd IDC also moved from Camp Verde to 1st IDCT while commandant Raymond Joffre relieved Colonel Harry Garrick Colditz at 1st IDCT on 15 October 1944. After World War II ended, CampVerde reverted back to civilian use but held occasional Army exercises until its closure in 1984 due to budget constraints caused by increased population growth in central Arizona coupled with changes in Army strategy which called for more troops stationed overseas rather than within America's borders Camp VerDE closed its gates permanently on April 30th 1984

Camp Verde was founded in 1912 by the United States government as a training ground for Native American scouts. In 1935, it became the first internment camp for Japanese Americans during World War II. After the war, Camp Verde became an agricultural research center and then a military post-secondary school. The facility closed in 1984 and was converted to a park.
