Chino Valley, Arizona is a small town in Pinal County, Arizona. The population was 3,527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Chino Valley was Manuel Cabeza who arrived there in 1867 and named it after his Rancho Chino Mexican land grant. In 1911, Emmett J. Wright founded Wright-Patterson Air Force Base here which continues to this day as the world's second largest air force base by area. Chino Valley is also home to Monarch Airlines which serves Prescott and Tucson Airport with flights to most major American cities as well as Mexico City and Monterrey. The economy of Chino Valley depends heavily on agriculture; especially hay, cotton, fruits and vegetables are grown hereabouts. Other industries that have been established recently in the valley include medical technology (including diagnostic testing laboratories) and software development services for businesses large and small. Some of these new businesses have included Apple Inc.'s headquarters building completed in 2006 adjacent to Phoenix Municipal Airport; Vistagen HealthCare's $1 billion redevelopment of nearby Mayo Clinic Hospital - one of the largest healthcare projects ever undertaken in America; Korte Manufacturing Company expanding its operations from their original facility near Scottsdale into bordering Valencia Hills; MidwayUSA moving its corporate headquarters from Mesa to Chino Valley following years of litigation over allegations that they discriminated against Native American employees at their Scottsdale location;[1] and a number of other companies located throughout nearly all parts of Pinal County including Chino Hills Elementary School District No., Cooley Middle School District No., Cochise High School District No., Hualapai Indian Community Tribal Council No., PCL Financial Corporation, Apache Wireless Incorporated.[2][3][4] A prominent local Stillwater resident since before World War II has been Don Laughlin who served two terms as Mayor pro tempore during the late 1970s until his retirement in 2003 after serving 37 years on the bench of Pinal County Superior Court dating back to 1955 when he was elected unopposed thereto as a Democrat joining then-Judge John Wahlstrom who had held that seat since 1969 when Wahlstrom became Chief Justice upon Judge Gifford Phillips' retirement from office due to ill health such that he could not serve any more than three years without being hospitalized or suffering an untimely death[5].

Chino Valley is a small town in Pinal County, Arizona, about 20 miles southeast of downtown Phoenix. The valley was named for Chino Canyon, which lies to the east of the town. The first white person to live in Chino Valley was Juan Bautista de Anza, who explored the area in 1770. The land that now Chino Valley was granted to the Arizonans by Mexican President Santa Anna on November 6, 1821 as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The townsite grew up around a military fort built in 1851 by Mormon settlers looking for a location for their new temple. After Mexico gained independence from Spain in 1848, it established its own government and began issuing land grants to individuals and families. Some of these Grants were used to establish Chino Valley as a townsite; others were just given out piecemeal until they reached what is now Pinal County. In 1865, General Tom Cole founded what is today Tempe along with four other settlements – Apache Junction (now Anthem), Goodyear Mesa (now Goodyear), Prescott Park (now Prescott), and Yuma – all located within present-day Chino Valley boundaries. These early communities were based on irrigation systems created by Colby and Goldwater irrigation Pioneers.. Colby’s system connected canals at several points throughout central Arizona using dykes and branch ditches dug across gentle hillsides centuries ago by Ancestral Puebloan people living near Cahokia Mound National Monument . By 1870 there were over 200 landowners developing irrigated agriculture in eastern Arizona . In 1886 John Wesley Powell discovered Mt Bachelor National Park northeast of Tucson when he drove his party into an area previously considered unaccessible due to its ruggedness and high mountains
