The Coolidge Coast Guard Station was established in 1922. The station is currently the only coast guard station on the Arizona-New Mexico border. The mission of the Coast Guard Station is to provide emergency response and protection to the people, land, and maritime interests along the lower Colorado River Valley. The Coolidge Coast Guard Station has a history that goes back to 1922 when it was established as part of the Western District of Arizona Alaskan Command. In 1941, it became part of Pacific Division and then Southwest Border Division. On July 1, 1957, it became an armys command under First Army Corps Headquarters at Fort Bliss Texas. It remained with First Army Corps Headquarters until its transfer to Second Air Force headquarters in Tucson on October 15, 1969. On October 15th 1969, Second Air Force moved itsHQ from Tucson to Coolidge where it remains today as part of MACV-2 commands Delta Wing 3rd Brigade Combat Team 1st Cavalry Regiment 2nd Infantry Division and 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team 5th Infanteries Division headquartered at Joint Base Phoenix/Mesa Arizona which also includes Camp Verde National Military Reservation 8 miles east of Prescott off I-8 w/USFS Prescott Ranger District)

The Coolidge Coast Guard Station was established on November 3, 1928. The station was manned by six men and one woman. On October 27, 1929, the station received its first boat, "Hermes". The Coast Guard's first airplane arrived in 1937. In 1946, the station became a part of the Arizona Department of Public Safety. In 1969, the department merged with the Arizona National Guard to form the Arizona State Defense Force. In 1992, statehood granted Arizona full control over its coast guard functions. On January 1st, 1994, it was announced that Coast Guard Station Coolidge would be closed effective February 15th due to budget cuts. It reopened on April 6th under new management and staffing levels as an auxiliary unit for DPS/AASF.
Coolidge is a small town in the Phoenix metropolitan area, in Pinal County, Arizona. The population was 7,241 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of I-10 and has an elevation of 4,558 ft (1,439 m). Coolidge was founded by James M. Coolidge in 1887 as a farmstead called "Natchez". It was renamed to "Coolidge" after President Grover Cleveland's visit there in 1895. Coolidge attended college here and served as a justice of the peace from 1901 to 1903. He became one of Arizona's first U.S. Senators from 1904 to 1911 and again from 1923 until his death in 1925. In 1932, Franklin D. Roosevelt made history when he became the 44th President of the United States; he also served as Governor of New York State from 1933 to 1939 and Mayor of New York City from 1941 to 1945 Before becoming president, FDR had been governor for only three years since 1934 and had no prior political experience beyond being a member of the New York state legislature during World War II while serving as mayor
The Coast Guard has been providing a service to the American people for over 170 years. The Coast Guard is responsible for the safety of our coasts and waterways, as well as protecting maritime interests and property. Throughout its history, the Coast Guard has made special gifts to individuals and organizations who have helped contribute to its mission. One of the most famous Coast Guard gifts was the firstAV-8B Harrier jet trainer plane. This gift was given in 1968 in memory of Rear Admiral David Fincher, who had served with distinction in World War II on board USS Constitution (CGN-14) and USS Enterprise (CV-6). The AV-8B Harrier jet trainer plane became one of the most popular gifts ever given to the Coast Guard. It was used by both military and law enforcement personnel throughout its career. In 1992, the Coast Guard gave away two UH-1 Huey helicopters as part of their “Blue Angels” program. These helicopters are flown by members of the Air National Guard, which is why they are also known as “Blue Angels” – an honorific bestowed on these helicopters by the Coast Guardsmen themselves! These helicopters are very versatile aircraft and play a key role in supporting many missions across our coast guard system. They can be used for search and rescue, coastal security, or air traffic control purposes. In addition to their use within our fleet, these choppers have also been donated to other organizations such as NASA and Save The Children

Coolidge was born on December 12, 1869, in Granby, Vermont. He attended college at the University of Michigan and then served as Treasurer of Massachusetts from 1893-1895. From 1897-1901 he served as Secretary of Agriculture under President Cleveland. In 1901 he became the first Republican governor of Arizona Territory. He was reelected in 1907 and 1913 and spent his final years in office fighting for Arizona's statehood. Coolidge died on January 6, 1924, in Washington D.C., after a long career in public service
Coolidge was born in Belmont, Massachusetts on December 3, 1872. After graduating from college, he worked as a law clerk and then as an agent for the Farmers' Loan and Trust Company in Boston. He served as Governor of Massachusetts from 1925 to 1929 and then became Vice President of the United States under Franklin D. Roosevelt during his first term. In 1933, he was elected president with a majority of the Electoral College but lost to Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 34th Amendment landslide.
