Since the early 1800s, coffee has been a popular drink in Coolidge, Arizona. The first coffee house in Coolidge opened in 1892 and was known as the Dutchman's Coffee House. In 1914, the town of Coolidge became home to its own coffee beans roasting plant. Over time, other businesses have followed suit and nowCoolidge is home to one of the largest coffee roasting plants in the United States. The history of coffee in Coolidge goes back even further. In 1853, John Wesley Hodges founded a grocery store and restaurant called The Dutchman's on Central Avenue. From this business, Hodges began importing Java beans from Java Island which he roasted himself at his shop until 1861. Additionally, Hodges' son-in-law Learned Gentry ran a grocery store next door from 1881 until 1903 when it burned down. It is believed that Gentry may have started brewing his own coffee at this time as well! In 1915, Mildred Hodgkinson established her own bakery and cafe on Main Street which she named The Entertainer's Cafe. This business served up delicious pastries such as cookies and cake all day long until 1981 when it closed because of financial troubles. However, due to its popularity among locals and tourists alike, The Entertainer's Cafe has since been reborn as a restaurant with live music nightly! Today, it is one of Coolidge’s most popular tourist destinations! Finally, we can say with certainty that without high quality coffee there would be no coolidge! The name "Coolidge" comes from General James K. Coolidge and his family who moved to the area in 1881. The Coolidges were farmers and ranchers and developed a reputation for being straight up honest people. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson appointed General Coolidge as the Administrator of Fife Creek Reservation which included parts of what is now Coolidge Village. Coolidge moved to Arizona in 1887 and became an important factor in developing the state's agricultural industry and economy. He also served as Governor of Arizona from 1912 to 1920 under president Warren G Harding. As governor, he reformed government function through streamlining processes and creating new jobs opportunities for Arizonans. After leaving office, he became one of America's most popular speakers - known especially for his messages on economic development, education reform, conservationism, social welfare programs and national security issues such as World War I interventionism

Some of the most influential people in coffee history were those who started up small businesses in their home countries. One of these was Roberto Brega, who is considered one of the fathers of espresso. Brega grew up in Italy and learned how to make great espresso from his father, who also did this type of business. This experience gave him a strong interest in tea, which he would later explore further with his friend Angelo Sorrentino. Together, they founded what is now known as Italy's first café—an establishment that served Italian-made coffee until World War II. Around this time as well, other countries began to get into the coffee game too. Indonesia became the first country to produce quality beans for roasting and selling on an international level; these beans went on to become some of the world's most popular coffees. India soon followed suit with its own line of high-quality roasts and brews; however, it wasn't until Ethiopia that truly groundbreaking expressions began happening within this country's Coffee Culture such as Xhosa Caffeine (now part of Starbucks). After years spent exploring new flavors and brewing methods throughout Africa and Asia, Ethiopians brought their unique flavor profile back Stateside when they opened their first independent shop called Folletto Coffee & Tea in New York City in 1971. These distinct regional styles include Amharic blend made primarily from harissa paste found in Somalia,yxia/xiracha blend from South Sudan using red pepper flakes added during fermentation process instead of ground ginger or cinnamon*, Tigrayese black pepper roast made mainly from groundnuts grown inside mosques* (*See below for list). The coffee industry has had a long and complex history. Coffee is believed to have been first roasted in Sumatra, Indonesia, sometime between 4,000 and 7,000 years ago. The earliest signs of coffee consumption are found in cave paintings from about 12,500 BCE. The Java region was the origin of early coffee beans. In 1795, British traders discovered Java and began trading with the locals for coffee. One of the first coffees from Java was planted in Philadelphia by John Peale in 1796. By 1825 there were over 1,500 coffeehouses operating throughout America. Coffee became popularized in Europe after it was discovered by Portuguese sailors on their way to India during the 16th century.
coolidge was born on a small farm in 1874, the eldest of seven children. When he was only thirteen, his father died and Coolidge had to take over the farm. He worked it for sixteen years and then bought it outright in 1904. Coolidge became one of Arizona's first governors when he was elected in 1912. Under his administration, Arizona experienced great growth thanks to his policies such as creating new state institutions like the University of Arizona and establishing public works projects such as the construction of Hoover Dam. In 1920, he was re-elected with even more success and served until 1923 when he resigned due to ill health. After his death in 1923, Arizona passed through several periods of political turmoil before becoming a Republican state in 1934. Governor Thomas Ellington named himCoolidge's "poster boy" for balancing federal budgets while maintaining order within the state government during the Great Depression era. After World War II ended, Arizona experienced rapid economic growth thanks to oil exploration and development but also some stability due to Coolidge's efforts to keep taxes low while developing industry. The state reached its current level of prosperity by 1990 despite difficult times during which many businesses closed or were sold off (the housing bubble burst). Today, much of what made Phoenix so vibrant during Coolidge's time is still evident today including high quality schools, lively nightlife, and impressive skyscrapers – all thanks to his legacy as an innovative governor who championed modernization in Arizona
