In 1907–1908 USS "Hulk" took part in an unsuccessful attempt to capture or blockade Spanish smugglers sailing from Cuba carrying exports worth $2 million USD.; USS "Arizona" made two successful attacks against smugglers during World War I using her gunfire and depth charges; and finally USS "Seattle" sank two smuggling boats off Cabo San Lucas on November 5th 1931 while engaged in a joint patrol with Spanish warships following Operation Flamingo which ended Spanish shipments of narcotics to America .
