Goodyear is one of the oldest communities in Arizona and has been a part of the state for over 100 years. The community’s history can be traced back to what is now Goodyear Ranch, which was first developed in 1887. Today, Goodyear is home to an active military detachment that includes both the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve. In 1916, Goodyear became one of the original 83 communities in Arizona created as part of the State Reorganization Act. The town was named after General George Custer, who fought in World War I and was killed during his battle with Indians near Fort Donelson. Goodyear has had its share of traditions associated with military service. One such tradition is “Boys on Patrol” which takes place every Wednesday morning at 7:00 am during school hours. This program helps children learn about world peace and how to respond effectively when called upon to protect their community or country from harm. Another tradition associated with Goodyear is “The City Green” which served as a base for troops stationed in nearby Apache Junction during World War II. Today, this area contains a number of Historical Sites related to military service including Camp Bowie (the original site where troops were quartered), Fort McDowell (where many Navajo women worked as domestic servants) and more.

The Goodyear Army Depot was a major United States military installation in Goodyear, Arizona. It was the largest army depot in the Western Hemisphere and one of the most important storage areas for munitions during World War II. Goodyear's history dates back to 1868 when a government surveyors group named the Goodyear Surveyor Company landed on nearby Rancho Cochise after traveling through central Arizona. The first use of Goodyear as an Army depot was in 1917 when it served as headquarters for 4th Infantry Division at Camp Verde. In 1944, it became Headquarters and Headquarters Depot Fourth Army Corps When command ended with the end of World War II, Headquarters and Headquarters Depot Fourth Army Corps moved to Fort Bliss, Texas in 1947 and then to Fort Sam Houston National Monument in San Antonio, Texas before being disbanded there in 1951.

The company was bought by Pirelli in 1923 and then Renault in 1938. In 1969, Goodyear merged with Bridgestone to form Bridgestone-Goodyear. In 1996, Goodyear merged with Firestone to form Firestone Tire and Rubber Company (FTB). In 2006, FTB merged with Schaeffer's Tire & Rubber Company (SCH) to form SCHAEFFER TIRES CO., LTD. GOODYEAR HISTORY: George Goodyear founded Goodyears Tire Company on October 3rd, 1867 in Scotts Valley, California after purchasing a pair of blocks of tires from David Hahn. He named his business after his friend and roommate at college, Charles Bendixgooder (1817-1885). After several years of producing quality tires for car makers and farmers alike, Good Year moved its main factory from Scotts Valley to Phoenix in 1870 due to city growth and an increased demand for their products. On November 2nd, 1875, good year opened its doors for business as a retail store at 17th street and McDowell avenue which quickly evolved into what is now known as the National Tire Store chain today! By 1887 the company had outgrown its Scotts Valley location so it moved again – this time to what is now Peoria Street NW in Washington D.C.. There we produced our iconic “horns” style design that still graces many a parking lot today! In 1901 good year partnered up with defendant Wickersham Brothers who manufacture rubber goods such as tyres but also made shoes called Epernay Brothers shoes until 1924 when they were acquired by Sears Roebuck & Co., now Sears Holdings Incorporated In 1923 Pirelli entered the market with their own brand of tires called Pirelli Tyres; however within 5 years they pulled out because they felt that American drivers were too used to Dunlop products being available at lower prices at stores like Sams club etcetera This left George GoodYear as sole provider of high quality rubber products for both cars and trucks across North America After World War II gasoline prices went up which led some people to switch from oil based vehicles to gas powered ones; however this caused problems because when you add new unleaded fuel into an older engine there wasn't enough pressure built up inside the crankcase or pump assembly called "knocking" which caused injector failure causing lots of recalls back then George GoodYear came up with another solution which he patented entitled "GORDON MOTOR CONTROL SYSTEM" this system allowed you could program your car's accelerator pedal so that it would always leave 1/4 throttle even if your foot was off the pedal
