Fremont organized a force of soldiers to protect Mormon settlers in what is now Kingman County. The men were given rifles and ammunition by Governor Doniphan and formed into Companies A and B of the 7th Arizona Infantry Regiment. In 1868, during the Civil War, General George Crook organized a force of volunteers from Kingman County to help fight for Southern Arizona against General Tom Riley’s Union army. The units were called Company D of the 1st Arizona Cavalry Regiment and fought at Palo Alto Station before being disbanded in 1865. The rifle company that was originally organized in 1868 became part of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 9thArizona Infantry Regiment on July 1st, 1889 when it was reorganized as Company H within the 10thArizona Infantry Regiment under command of Colonel James Wolkowicz. The 10thArizona Infantry regiment was mustered out on November 8th, 1898 and its members transferred to Company I (20th Arizona Infantry) which had been mustered into service on May 16th, 1890 under orders from Major-General Fred Harrison Beauregard commanding First Corps Reserve Army Department at Phoenix AZ as part of general assignment entitled “6 Months Defence Against Invasion by Mexico” After two years service with this unit companies I and II (20 ARI) were disbanded on October 15 1899 due to lack of recruits while Company A remained active until 1902 when it also disbanded due to lack of troops available for duty near Prescott AZ during World War I In 1915 all patriotic troops were mobilized for World War I but because there was no need for these troops after WWI they reverted back to their inactive status On February 12 1925 an order was issued disbanding all military forces outside territorial boundaries effective March 12 1925 . As a result Companies A through F (21 ARI) ceased operations effective March 12 1925 . All personnel who had served with these units since 1868 or earlier were honorably discharged without any retribution or punishment This event is generally considered as one step in ending military gift history in Kingman County

Kingman, Arizona is a small town located in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. The population was 2,021 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The first permanent resident to Kingman was George Hinkle on May 17, 1863. The name "Kingman" comes from the Apache Chief Manuelito's claim to an area east of Tucson called "Kiowa." There are several legends about how this land got its name; one version has it that a man named Kingman fought with Apaches and won the day. Another account tells of a miner who died in a fight and his family were given this land as compensation. In 1881, Indian agent J.G. Stockwell sold 640 acres (270 hectares) northeast of Kingman to Hooton Waddell for $5 per acre ($40 km²). Waddell named the tract "Hinton" after himself and his brother-in-law Captain David Routhier Hinton (1829-1905), then US Army officer stationed at Chickasha Agency near present-day Phoenixville, Pennsylvania as part of military occupation during the Gadsden War (1861-1865). In 1907 Don Hecox bought 640 acres (270 hectares) east of Kingman from Waddell for $1 per acre ($10 km²). He renamed it "Higgins". In 1912 he sold 560 acres (240 hectares) northeast of Kingman to Norris Laughlin for $2 per acre ($16 km²). Laughlin laid out what is now central Kingman on 160 acres (60 hectares) acquisitions made between 1911 and 1915 from John Wesley Powell when he surveyed portions northward from Tucson along what is now Interstate 10. A post office was established at Kingman in 1912 under the name Higgins but changed its name to Kinnera in 1916 due to problems with confusion with nearby Kittson City which had also been founded that year by James Kinnera. By 1922, Kingman had become one of Pima County's major towns with over 1,000 residents when Harry Blackmon developed some 160 acres east of town into irrigated agriculture using water taken from wells drilled deep within Apache Stronghold National Monument northwest of town on mountains ridges above 925 feet (−332 meters) azure blue waters underlying thriving villages built upon these same ridges where today’s quaint downtown streets run parallel with those valleys flooring much lower elevations below 100 feet (−30 meters)]. On November 12, 1916 during World War I General John J Pershing listed Kingman on his muster card as an outpost along the Tucson–Phoenix road fronting on what is now Interstate 10 near present-day Camelback Mountain—thus making it one of only a handful places west of the Mississippi River where United States military forces had deployed during that war. At that time there were no paved roads running through central Arizona so troops had to walk or ride their horses back and forth to their encampments carrying food and ammunition across country intermingling with Native American tribes who roamed free from US military jurisdiction save for hunting trips allowed by special treaties between US tribe leaders and US Army generals underwritten by Congress authorized by President Woodrow Wilson [...] Today there are few physical reminders remaining from those days apart from some old trees around town’s core which have beenCut down since then but many people visiting here would never know that because they live right next door!
