By the late 1800s, larger businesses had started to roast their own coffee and began selling it throughout the city. In 1909, Peoria became one of the first cities to ordain an independent coffee commission. This commission was tasked with creating guidelines for how coffee should be roasted and sold. During World War II, many businesses closed down and most of the population was forced to rely on rations or food stamps to survive. However, some small businesses have continued to roast their own coffee until today. Some of the earliest roasters include The Coffee House, Marcus & Weiss, and Bean Hub. In the late 1800s, Peoria began to focus on espresso as its primary beverage and started producing their own coffee beans. The first espresso shop in Peoria was called The Cafe de la Main and it served up espresso drinks until around 1922 when it changed its name to La Bottega Italiana. In 1928, La Bottega Italiana became known as Roaring Forties Coffee before moving upstairs and becoming known as Starbucks in 1984.
Peoria, Arizona is a city located in thewestern United States. As of 2010, the population was 154,509. It is the county seat of Kane County and has a history dating back to 1867 when it was incorporated as a town. The name Peoria comes from the English word "prairie," meaning land used for farming or grazing animals. The City of Peoria first developed on what is now the east side of West 43rd Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue in 1867 as a result of an agreement between two groups: farmers who were moving westward and businessmen who wished to establish themselves in new territory. The original plat included three blocks on which stands today's downtown business district including four buildings that still stand: First National Bank (now Federated Bank), The Phoenix Gazette Building, the old Post Office Building, and the Noble family home which still stands today (it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978). In 1898 musician Glenn Gould played his first performance at Doheny Park on behalf of promoter Charles Dolan. That year also saw Peoria become known as one of America's " birthplace" with its citizens having arrived there during its earliest days. By 1912 Peoria had reached its peak with over 50 businesses operating within its boundaries; however by 1914 it had begun to decline due to increased competition from other communities along Interstate 10 north of town. The arrival in 1925 of Harry S Truman as President Of The United States marked another watershed moment for Peoria; during his time here he made numerous visits and speeches both before and after leaving office at nearby Washington D.C.. In 1929–30 Mayor John J McMahon built what is now Fourth Street Municipal Plaza which served as both municipal hall and community center until it was torn down in 1985 following an unsuccessful campaign by then-Mayor Tom Bradley to keep it standing – although only one wall remains today adjacent to City Hall Park! In 1933–34 Harry S Truman again came through for small-time businessman John Kroc when he opened Kroc's Pizza next door to McDonalds – giving this area its present name! However despite this visit some residents did not take kindly to Truman’s politics - later that year they burned his car inside City Hall! However much progress had been made since those halcyon days prior to World War II when like most American townsfolk throughout central Illinois Pvt Field Gun Storage Company became embroiled in many high-stakes transactions involving their local politicians; orders came pouring into Peoria from all corners of America seeking information about our newlyweds President/Governor/royalty etc…aumgahaha…ha haa no way could we resist these requests because we knew our mayor would never tell us anything bad about any politician we asked him about!
