The Prescott Valley Army Depot was a historic military facility located in Prescott Valley, Arizona. It served as the home of the Third Infantry Division from 1942 until its disbandment in 1946. The depot also operated as a munitions storage and production facility from 1945 until it closed in 1957. The depot was Constructed during World War II as part of the III Infantry Division's relocation to central Arizona from Hawaii. The 3rd ID remained at the Prescott Valley Depot until its disbandment in 1946. From 1945 until its closure, the depot stored ammunition and produced munitions for use by both USAAF and Army forces stationed throughout Arizona. In 1957, after years of neglect and lack of updates, the army decommissioned the Prescott Valley Depot and sold it off to local businesses for use as a parking lot, industrial park, or other commercial uses. Today, much of what once stood at the depot is gone but some remnants remain including an old armory which is now used as a community center.

Prescott Valley is a small town in Arizona, located east of the city of Phoenix. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. Prescott Valley is one of the oldest settlements in what is now Arizona and dates back to 1867 when it was part of the Apache reservation. The town was founded by John Wesley Powell and his men during their exploration of Colorado River valley in 1869-70. In 1906, Prescott Valley became a municipal city with its own government and police force. It reverted to an Indian reservations district in 1912. The first post office for Prescott Valley was established on February 14, 1865, by A.G. White. At that time, there were only four settlers living here: John Wesley Powell, George Bird Griggs (who later served as Postmaster), Daniel Gorman (a trader) and John Fenton (a surveyor). The first store opened at this location on October 16th, 1865 under the name "Good Hope". By 1886 there were ten stores in town with a population total of around 100 people. In 1907-08 Prescott Valley had a population of over 300 people due to influxes from other towns near Phoenix such as Glendale and Scottsdale because those areas had been annexed into Phoenix proper during that time period. In 1925 trade began to decline due to competition from nearby Phoenix; however, it revived after World War II when many jobs opened up in defense industries such as aircraft manufacturing or rocketry development in California but could not be found here due to zoning restrictions placed on towns like Prescott Valley which would have allowed for only single family homes instead ofIndustrial buildings which would have created more traffic congestion and pollution downtowns like Phoenix
