The Queen Creek Air Force Base air show is an annual event that takes place in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The event began in 1951 as a USAF community exercise and has grown into one of the most popular events on the military calendar. This year’s show will be held from Saturday, November 10th to Sunday, November 11th. Air force personnel and their families attend this year’s event to enjoy fly-overs by planes from all over the world, displays of American weapons and equipment, live music, food trucks and more. The Arizona Air National Guard's 184th Airlift Wing deployed a gift history in Queen Creek, Arizona on Feb. 10. The gift history was the result of an online donation drive by the 184th Airlift Wing Foundation. The Wings raised more than $2,500 through the campaign and donated it to four local charities: the Valley Humane Society, Reach Out! Services for Children, and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. "This is another way that we can show our love and care for our community," said Lt. Col. Christopher Kappenberg, commander of the 184th Airlift Wing Foundation. "It's great to see how much support we're getting from everyone."
Queen Creek is a small town in the Phoenix metropolitan area. It was founded in 1911 by Isadore and Emma King, who were looking for a place to raise their family. Queen Creek's history goes back to that time, too. The original mill was built on the east side of the creek, and it still exists today. Queen Creek is located about 15 miles south of Phoenix on I-10 between Scotts Valley and Paradise Valley. It has a population of about 2,000 people as of 2010 according to the U.S. Census Bureau - making it one of the smaller towns in Phoenix but with a rich history dating back many years. Queen Creek is a small, rural town in Apache County, Arizona, United States. Queen Creek was founded in 1867 by John Pope and the Queen Creek Land Company. The name of the town comes from a creek that runs through it. Queen Creek is located on the east side of Apache Mountain and lies within the Navajo Nation. As of the 2010 Census, the population of Queen Creek was 561 residents. The town was originally built to serve as a stop on the Aravaipa Branch Railroad, but now most people live outside of Queen Creek or visit it only occasionally for shopping and recreation purposes. Queen Creek has a richApache Indian history dating back to pre-European times when some tribes hunted here during their annual cycle of mourning (referred to as "the moon dance"). In 1868 Wintzell discovered coal nearby and began mining operations in what would become Queen Creek; this discovery led to increased trade with other parts of western America and helped support early growth in Queen Creek. Over time, mining operations produced more than 2 million pounds (1 metric ton) ofcoal which formed much of Queens creek's infrastructure including its water supply and streetlights today! The first post office opened in 1907; however, service was sporadic because mail delivery didn't start until 1915. In 1912 construction began on a new courthouse which served as both local courtrooms during legal proceedings as well as being used for high school graduation ceremonies etc.; it still stands today and is one of only two functioning buildings from those days left in queen creek! In 1918 an electric streetcar line linking queens creek with Phoenix arrived making it easier for citizens to get around without having to walk or ride horseback; moreover this line became known as "The Ride" due to its popularity among locals who enjoyed taking advantageof its unique routing/location! Later that year also saw another large development at our doorstep when Pima Electric Cooperative established itself along Buffalo Rd., just northwest of queens creek! This cooperative became oneoflargest electrical companiesinAZandoperated until 1978 whenit merged with Arizonan Telephone & Telegraph Co., Inc.. Today Pima Electric Cooperative remains active providing power generation, transmission and distribution services within queen creeksGranite Hills area!
