The Sedona coast guard gift history goes back to the early 1920s when the first Coast Guard station was established in Sedona. The present Coast Guard Station at Sedona was originally built in 1931 and has served as a vital part of the Sedona community since that time. During World War II, the Coast Guard set up an air-defense radar station in Sedona and also created a coastal guard detachment which patrolled the beaches and harbours of Sedona and nearby towns. In 1951, Coastal Guard Station #2 was opened in Cottonwood Heights on Navajo Mesa, just south of town. In 1969, Coastal Guard Station #3 was opened at Pinnacle Point east of town. This new station functioned as both a harbor patrol unit as well as providing security for day-use areas along Phoenix Beach Boulevard between US 101W and AZ 82nd Street. In 1984, Coastal Guard Station #4 was opened at Narrows Marina on White Sands Lake adjacent to NM 159E. This new station became responsible for all maritime patrols within Kingman County including fishing, boating and sailboat traffic within 1/4 mile of shoreline.

The United States Coast Guard has been providing VIP services since 1794. The first U.S. Coast Guard ship, the Sandship, was built in 1795 and served as a tender for the fledgling navy. In 1814, the first coastal defense watch was established at Sandy Hook Point on Long Island to prevent attack from pirates operating off the New England coast. Along with other maritime organizations, the Coast Guard played a pivotal role during World War I when it organized and conducted search and rescue operations off the coast of Maine and Massachusetts. The Coast Guard also played an important role in peacetime by providing security for America's coasts and waters through its many law enforcement initiatives such as Search and Rescue (SAR), public education programs on boatswain’s mate (Maj.) level training, disaster relief, ice-breaking patrols and more. Today's Coast Guard is a technological marvel with over 1 million active duty members across all 50 states plus Guam and Puerto Rico who work together to keep our country safe by monitoring more than 30 million square miles of water - twice that of any other nation on Earth! Their motto is "Our mission is to protect Americans wherever they are – whether it’s sailing their boat or flying their airplane." The gift history of the Coast Guard reflects this mission; from pistols given as gifts tonavigators during sea voyages in days gone by to radios used today in times of emergency or just for relaxation – there have been many special occasions where donations have come in handy. In 1958, Commander Edward Caryl donated his clamshell diving helmet along with clothing items including lifejackets and cold weather gear to help improve safety underwater during recreational boating season. In 1979, Rear Admiral John Wissinger Donated his own Corvette Stingray II boat - number 21 - into service as part of Operation Neptune's Spear which responded to reports of Iranian Navy vessels violating American airspace south of Iran while under cover of darkness. This event marked only the second time a U.S.-owned vessel had participated in such an operation outside NORAD control; prior missions were conducted using UH-1 Hueys operated by Canadian Forces members stationed at Incirlik airbase near Ankara). These type events underscore how vital it is for our Coast Guardsmen to be able to respond quickly when called upon to help out fellow citizens - something that has always been an important part of their job description! Many memorable donations include: In 1984, Commandant Raymond Fenton donated one hundred fishing hatches complete with line release devices along with rod holders/receivers for both men & women officers along with three cast nets each valued at $1,000 each towards development of fisheries research tools aboard HMCS Algonquin (LHD 5) after she became surplus property following her retirement from service in 1991; A year later Commodore Cary HarwoodDonated six fiberglass lifeboats which he had rescued during Katrina evacuations resulting from Hurricane Rita; these boats were then refurbished & re-launched as lifesaving aids within months after being stored at Stockton Harbour Marina; As part Sailing Ship Squadron Three prepared for its centenary celebration throughout summer 2007 they commemorated 100 years since President Coolidge ordered construction started on USS Constitution State Quarters atop Governors Island - becoming one of only two ships ever commissioned by that squadron...the other being USCGC Polar Bear (CG 59). This event saw donation flights over Governors Island runway 01L/19R filled with spare parts & equipment needed for commemoration...a total value exceed $7000! This paper will not be about individual donations made by the Coast Guard but rather some general trends seen over time which can tell us alot about how Coastalguard gift history works generally speaking!

Sedona, Arizona is a city in Sedona County, Arizona, United States. It is the county seat of Sedona. The population was 20,839 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to explore and trade with the area were Spanish explorers in 1540–1541. The 16th century Pima Indians hunted here for their food and robes. In 1864, gold was discovered in this region by prospectors led by George Smedley Butler. The town of Sedona was established on November 17, 1864 as a result of the discovery; it quickly grew to become one of the most important mining towns in Arizona Territory. In 1870s and 1880s lumbering became an important industry here; some 30 miles (48 km) of railroad were built through this area between 1872 and 1912. In 1912, several scandals rocked the state government here when businessmen bribed officials to get favorable rulings from courts while they were running for office; these investigations led to arrests and convictions of many people. One such scandal also helped spur economic development in western Phoenix during that time period (1912-1920). The town's growth continued until World War II when it reached its peak due largely to military production activity: munitions plants were located throughout Sedona during this time period by both local companies and the United States Army Aviation Corps under General Douglas MacArthur (1881-1964). After World War II ended with Japan's surrender in 1945, there was significant demobilization among American forces throughout much of the Southwest; including Sedona which saw little civilian populating until well into the early 21st century due largely toíthe high levels of military activity that persists today despite major population changes throughout much of Phoenix metroarea
