Somerton, Arizona is a small town in Pinal County,Arizona located on the east side of the Grand Canyon. It is one of the few towns still remaining from the days when Arizona was a part of Mexico. The population was 516 at the 2010 census. The history of Somerton goes back to 1869 when Brigham Young and his family arrived in what is now Somerton. The first post office was established in 1870 and the first store opened in 1872. In 1896, Somerville became an incorporated town. In 1940, it was decided that Somerville would become its own county and thus be known as Pinal County seat. However, this did not happen until 1959 when Pinal County split into two counties: Apache and Pinal Counties both chose to name their new county after themselves – Apache for its central location on the Mexican border and Pinal for being on most of the land that made up today’s Arizona. Today, there are only a few buildings left from those early days such as pioneer homesteads which were built near present day Main Street and Church Road south of town center. Most of what remains today date back to World War II when Somerville became home to many military personnel stationed along with other towns in southeastern Arizona during World War II including Window Rock, Globe City, Cottonwood Heights, Prescott Valley etc.. somerton has had quite a bit going on over these years some good some bad but mostly interesting!

Somerton, Arizona is a small town located in Pima County, Arizona on the border of Mexico and the United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. The name "Somerton" comes from Spanish and means "place of abundance." The first inhabitants of Somerton were Native American settlers who arrived in 1851. They named their settlement after an early Spanish settler, José de Somerville. However, it wasn't until 1864 when the Mexican War led to a influx of Anglo Americans into Pima County. When General James W. Wilson's forces landed in Tucson on November 16, 1865 he established what is now called CampWilson north of present-day Somerton. This temporary military encampment housed about 400 soldiers and their families for several weeks before being transferred back to Fort Sill near Tulsa on December 8th. In 1870, another group of Anglo Americans moved into Somerton from Phoenix. This time they named their community Easton after Arthur Easton who had purchased land east of Mohave River in 1863 from Manuel Otero. Eventually, all three settlements would become known as Pomona Valley because eastern Pima County lay within that area at that time (Palo Verde Mesa to the west). In 1881, two new towns were formed within Pomona Valley: West Covina and Carson City which are both still extant today as communities with over 6,[1]000 residents each[2]. It was during this time period that citrus farming became a key industry in Pomona Valley due to its warm climate and ample rainfall – perfect conditions for growing oranges! Although there were many other businesses open during this time such as breweries and general stores; it is primarily through oral history interviews with former residents that we learn more about the culture, life experiences and favorite foods in these days past which can be enjoyed by visitors today! For example; one resident who lived through World War II recalls how rationed food was used by her family to survive: "I remember my grandfather telling me about how our food got restricted because we didn't have any butter or oil so we had to eat margarine instead... We also ate canned goods like tomatoes." Another resident remembers going door-to-door selling newspapers during prohibition: "I sold papers out front - I would put them up against the building where I worked." Today’s community comes alive with annual events such as those found throughout winter including Christmas markets、Fairs/Festivals\/Raffles held throughout summertime along with traditional dances such as Powwow & Chiavariña competitions throughout autumn; As well as numerous concerts held throughout year outside amphitheater & ball fields=Aozawa Park
