Surprise, Arizona is one of the most interesting cities in the United States because it has a rich coffee history. The city was founded in 1887 by prospectors looking for new land to drill for oil and gas. The first coffee beans were grown in the area and were sold to local merchants. In 1916, two brothers, Harry and Roy Kramden, opened a small coffee shop in the old post office. They began selling roasted beans from their shop and started marketing themselves as "the best coffee in town." Over time, they became known for their high-quality coffee products. In 1969, they moved to their current location on Main Street and continue to serve delicious cups of Joe today. Surprise's coffee industry began to grow rapidly after World War II when demand for military fuel increased. The city became home to several roasters including Peet's Coffee Company, which developed a successful roast-house style of operation. In 1975, Starbucks Corporation purchased Peet's Coffee Company and continued its success with single origin (roasted bean) coffees under the name Starbucks Coffee USA. Today, Starbucks Coffee USA operates more than 150 stores across North America including 20 locations in Surprise AZ! The history of Surprise's coffee industry is reflective of the growth of espresso around the world during that time period; however, there are some unique aspects that set Surprise apart from other cafes frequented by travelers or residents who enjoy Italian espresso drinks such as macchiato or cappuccino with milk foam: 1) Harry & Roy Kramden operated their business independently from anyone else until 1966 when they partnered with another Tucson roaster - Giovanni De Stefano - which elevated their quality standards even further 2) Their cup size selection was initially quite small but grew over time due to advances in technology 3) After moving into their current premises on Main Street in 1969 Harry & Roy continued working together until his death in 2006; continuing this legacy at De Stefano Bros./Powers Coffee House

Surprise, Arizona is a town in Pinal County, Arizona. The population was 2,636 at the 2010 census. Surprise is located on the Gila River. It is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The community of Surprise was founded in 1885 by trappers and prospectors from California. At first it consisted of just a few families living off the land around what is now Interstate 805 and State Route 66. In 1902, a post office was established in Surprise with mail service only to local farmers who delivered goods to settlers in wagon trains passing through the area on their way eastward for Buffalo Bill's Cody's Wild West Show at Fort Apache Indian Reservation near modern-day Scottsdale. In 1925, when statehood was achieved within Pinal County, Surprise became its seat and began to grow as a commercial center with cotton farming becoming popular among residents because of its low water usage and irrigated fields available year-round. By 1940, the population had reached 3,000 people and agriculture had become more important than industry; however, during World War II there were several large defense plants located in or near town which stimulated growth once again for many years until they closed down or moved out of state following the war. A new shopping mall called "Area 51" opened in downtown Surprise in 1992; it quickly became one of most popular tourist destinations in town due to its UFO sightings (the apparent remains of an Air Force B-29 that crashed into an agricultural field outside town). Today much smaller businesses call Main Street home while newer development continues to sprout up throughout downtown including several high-end hotels and two small commerce districts that house numerous restaurants and services such as pharmacies etc., making downtown one big business district known as "Surprisetown".

Some of the earliest coffee beans were from Ethiopia, where it is said that the first coffee plantations were established about 3000 BC. African slaves brought back their traditional methods of roasting and brewing coffee to Europe. The Portuguese also began to cultivate coffee in Brazil in the 16th century. Coffee became popular throughout Europe because of its unique flavor, which was considered to be smooth, earthy, sweet, and slightly bitter. One of the most famous European brewers was Giovanni Pernambuco who brewed a type of coffee called “Pernambuco” that is still enjoyed today. French brewers soon followed suit with their own versions of this type of coffee. By 1700 AD, espresso had become an important part of European culture and was being exported all over the world. Arabic traders also introduced espresso to India in the 14th century AD. After becoming popular in India, espresso spread to other parts of Asia including China and Japan where it gained a following as well. In 1830, Italian printers started making a type of roast called burro which was similar to what we now call café au lait (or pre-packaged Starbucks drinks). Soon after, Dutch brewers began producing their own version of espresso known as kopje (pronounced ko-pee). Kopjes quickly became popular among Dutch sailors due to their smooth taste and low caffeine content. By 1855, Belgian chocolate makers had produced their first cup worth $100 worth of cocoa powder (worth about $4 million today) using 100% pure Ethiopian beans! This combination gave birth to what we know as “chocolate politano” or “Belgian chocolate”! However, not all coffees originated in Europe or North America – some came from Africa! Oneofthe earliest African coffees grown was called Erykah Badu which is thought to have been grown around 2200 BC on the island nation Of Ghana according to historian John Elliott In 1795 Daniel Boone discovered new land that would later become Kentucky while exploring west Tennessee Some early American settlers purchased Brazilian coffee beans for use during their travels through South America
The first coffee was ground and brewed in a small pot on the property of David Geffen, now part of the L.L. Bean company. In 1833, Nicholas-Jacques Conte started trading coffee beans from his farm near Rome, Italy. The first dry- roasted coffee beans were exported to Europe in 1835 by Hennepin Coffee Co., a predecessor of Peet's Coffee Company. In 1847, James Worthy bought a small parcel of land north of Philadelphia that included what is now known as Starbucks location at 10th and Sansom Streets in Center City. The business began as an independent shop called Worthy's Coffee House with four employees and two roasters. In 1994, Starbucks acquired Intermix Coffee Corporation which manufactures its own coffees and espresso drinks under the name Starbuck's Coffee & Espresso products
Though its name may sound like a mystery, Surprise is one of the most well-known and prolific towns in Arizona. Originally founded by Mormons in 1867 as an agricultural outlier on the Navajo Reservation, Surprise quickly began attracting settlers and businesses. By 1899 it had become a thriving community with its own school system, post office, and railroad station. But things took a surprising turn for the town when prohibition was introduced in America. With no legal way to sell alcoholic beverages, businesses crashed and prices for goods skyrocketed. Businesses owners began searching for new opportunities and soon Surprise was renamed "Surprise, Arizona" after the allure of dry towns such as Scranton, PA., where liquor Sales were allowed until 1933. The boom years passed quickly for Surprise but by 1940 it had shrunk to just over 2,000 residents due to population growth in nearby Phoenix. But again something amazing happened: local entrepreneurs decided to start up their own businesses once again! This time they started up several small shops which thrived until the early 1990s when leisure travel became popular and real estate prices increased dramatically. At this point many of those original business owners decided it was time to move on from their old town – but not before leaving behind memories of an ever-growing community that blazed through history!

Surprise was founded in 1867 as a ranching community called "Mesa Verde". The first post office in Surprise opened in 1870. A store and school were built there in 1875, and a church was erected in 1881. In 1907, the name of the town changed to "Surprise" after General John J. Pershing's visit to that location during his campaign for Ulysses S. Grant's election as President of the United States. In 1912, when statehood was achieved for Arizona, Surprise became its capital and remained so until 1959 when Phoenix replaced it as its capital
