Over time, Ferrandini's cafe grew into one of the most popular spots in town. In 1912, Joe Cafeteria opened its doors in downtown Yuma and became the first restaurant to serve coffee from scratch. It quickly became well-known for its quality beans and amazing selection of food items. TheJoe Cafeteria remained open until it closed its doors in 1966 due to financial difficulties. In 1954, Angelo's Coffee Annex opened up shop on East First Street in downtown Yuma which is now home to several restaurants including Joes Pizza Place and Happy Hens Cafe. Angelo's Coffee Annex provided delicious espresso drinks with variety flavors such as pumpkin spice, peppermint flavored cream puffs, chocolate chip cookies (a specialty), peach pie tartlets, eggnog cups or any other combination you could imagine! In 1976-1977 an old grocery store called The General Store was built on East Second Avenue in downtown Yuma and served as the shop’s bakery before being sold to business owners John Wechtke and Don Stoller who turned it into what is now known as DonatellO’s Pizza Place DowntownYuma
Yuma, Arizona is a city in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. Yuma is bordered by Apache Junction to the east and south, Storey to the west, and Chiricahua Apache Nation to the north. The name "Yuma" comes from the Spanish word "yuma," meaning "snowflakes." It is one of several words used by Don Carlos Marítimo for this region including Cochinillo (the valley), Huachuca (a mountains), Pima (the Desert), and La Bolsa (the Well). When Mexican trader Antonio López de Santa Anna journeyed through this area in 1846 he found that many of the people living here spoke Apache language and were hunting horses and sheep with their Paiute friends. He called these people there's because they didn't have any other placeer names. The first white man to live in what is now Yuma County was John Wesley Powell who prospected for gold near present-day Prescott on July 8, 1869. A few months later he returned with his men to find that some of his investors had abandoned him so he decided to head back downriver again instead. His party reached Yuma on October 12th after walking across country for three days without food or water. After being met by Sheriff Hetman Tombs they camped out near today's Main Street where they built a small fortification against Apaches led by José Joaquín Balaguer who had also been searching for gold in this area since early 1868. In February 1870 two more parties set out from Yuma looking for Balaguer but both return without finding any mining sites worth exploration; however much later another group discovered a small amount of gold about southeast of town. From here until 1902 alluding claims were made to various parts of what is now Mohave County but no discoveries were made until 1893 when James Fenton discovered an extensive deposit of silver at North Springs which led eventually to formation of Copper Canyon Mining District #2() In 1905 an oil well was drilled on land leased from ranchers Eben Christensen and Edward Condon near present day Gila River National Monument (). On December 5th 1905 Eben Christensen patent'd United States No: 3282 $5 per share () resulting in US$130 million investment over ten years (). The company soon went bankrupt due mainly to high costs associated with building infrastructure necessary for production as well as competition from foreign companies such as ChevronTexaco(). However profits did continue over time thanks largely to productivity improvements achieved through research into new methodsologies such as hydraulic fracturing ().
