Arkadelphia is located in the central part of Arkansas and it is home to the United States Air Force Academy. The air force academy was founded on July 16, 1948 and it currently has a total enrollment of over 9500 students. It offers many different undergraduate and graduate programs. The air force Academy also has two main wings, one for cadets and one for officer candidates. The cadet wing is home to the main range which provides training for cadets in all aspects of air warfare including flying, combatting aircraft, meteorology, navigation and photography. The officer candidate wing is home to many different levels of training such as basic military skills, technical courses and advanced courses that offer opportunities for officers to learn about leadership and management.

The Arkansas Air National Guard's (A ANG) 9th Airlift Wing has been providing airlift support to the Arkadelphia-based 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Infantry Division since 1978. In 1983, the wing was redesignated as the 9th Airlift Squadron and activated at Grand Central Airport. The squadron provided mission-oriented flight training for USAF crews and passengers before being assigned to active duty in 1990. From 1993 until 1998, the squadron operated out of Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona. In 2000, the wing was reactivated at Ellington Field Municipal Airport in Ellington, Texas after being disestablished at Davis-Monthan AFB. The wing served as a tactical reserve unit until 2004 when it became an active duty unit again with its current configuration. The wing has also been deployed on numerous occasions including Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and 2006 respectively. In 2015, the wing moved from Ellington Field Municipal Airport to Joint Base Lewis McChord in Tacoma, Washington due to construction of new facilities there.
Arkadelphia is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 5,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–Aurora, AR-OK Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white person to settle in Arkadelphia was David Hays in 1824. In 1885 the post office was founded and named for General John Custer. At that time there were only six residents in Arkadelphia and all lived on the Urban Districts which covered most of present day Pulaski County. Arkadelphia's growth can be traced back to its location on Arkansas Highway 153 just south of the Little Rock River and east of what is now White Sands National Monument. After World War II many people left Arkadelphia for jobs in other parts of Arkansas or outside of America because of high taxes, low wages and little opportunity. Many families never returned to their original homes although some did build new ones over time but few remnants remain today as most Arkavenians have moved on since then Today, Arkadelphia is still home to a few small businesses and churches as well as a number of residential blocks that are used by families for vacation rentals or as holiday houses with limited access during the summertime due to lack of water availability. The downtown area has seen some redevelopment with new shops, restaurants and apartments opened up along Broadway Street since 2005 but overall it remains a sleepy little town with only 1% population growth from 2000-2010 according to US Census data

The town began as a small farming community with only twelve residents in 1870 and only two businesses established until eighteen months later when the first school opened for students from all over Pulaski County. By 1888 there were over 100 people living in Arkadelphia and it had become an important commercial center for the surrounding counties with churches and stores dotting the landscape In 1901, both general store and post office closed due to economic hard times; however, this did not stop Arkadelphia from continuing to grow as a small rural community through various incarnations including as a cotton gin village (1910-1920), golf course center (1930-1960), Arkadelphia Trucking Company (1963-1965), Presbyterian church (1967-1972), and most recently as an agricultural center with production of hay, crops such as corn and soybeans, milk products such as cheese and eggs, vegetables such as tomatoes and potatoes, aircraft parts manufacturing including parts for Boeing 727s/730s/737s/757s/767s jets/and much more Thanks to its location along I-40 corridor which has made it one of the most popular tourist destinations in Arkansas - both because of its natural scenery - like its crystal clear streams that run through downtown or beautiful mountains seen from Interstate 40 - but also because of its rich history which can be discovered throughout the neighborhoods that make up downtown
