In 1933, Congress passed a bill making the Arkansas National Guard a full-fledged military unit with jurisdiction over all of central Arkansas. This gave rise to the name “The Buffaloes” and made them one of only two state organizations authorized to Bear arms by Congress. The other organization was The State Troopers of Texas. The Arkansas National Guard was organized on December 12, 1883. The unit was known as the "Cabot Volunteer Infantry" and served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The regiment was disbanded on September 30, 1865.
Cabot is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock−North Little Rock−Hutchinson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white person to permanently reside in Cabot was William Burt (1793-1868), who built a cabin on the edge of the town in 1821. The first store opened in 1825 and the first school was built in 1830. In 1839, General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson's force destroyed Fort Smith's brick courthouse and jail, which had served as anahty for many years. The new courthouse was built by local citizens and dedicated on November 10th of that year. In 1861, during the American Civil War, Cabot became one of several Arkansas towns to become Confederate capital city Nashville because it reopened its Arsenal after Union forces burned it while they were invading Tennessee. After the war ended in 1865, Cabot lost its importance as an infantry garrison due to strategic differences with other Confederate capitals such as Memphis and points north; however, its population continued to increase until 1890 when it reached 2,000 residents including 300 Germans who had moved from nearby Springdale during World War I to work at Fort Smith's armory before returning home again during Prohibition era. During this time period too there were occasional major changes or updates to downtown physical appearance including complete replacement of all but one street light bulb with electric lights by 1907; complete rehabilitation of deteriorating public water system starting around 1926; installation of large number of asbestos insulation products following world pandemic pandemic scare; establishment of post office located on Main Street between First Avenue South and McClure Street circa 1930s which eventually closed circa 1960s although mail continued being delivered through route via Post Office Box #5 southbound past current day limits; detailed reconstruction/repair/replacement/accommodation addition & renovation project currently ongoing inside old post office building adjacent east side alley approximately block long existing since early 1920s fronting Onslow Avenue) known locally as "The Addition." The original caboose still stands today just off US Highway 6 overpass near intersection with Atchison Road NB

Cabot was a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 714 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Republican River. The town started out as a cattle drive stop in 1883. In 1907, Cabot had its first post office and that year also saw the founding of the Arkansas-Mexico Railway Company by local entrepreneur Cajetan Hargrave and others. The company built a line from Cabot to Mexico City, then to El Paso and Juárez. In 1916, Cabot had its first schoolhouse and in 1924 it had its first Baptist church. By 1930, most of the buildings in town were gone because of economic factors such as World War II spending by the government on defense projects there; however, some new structures were constructed during that time including a high school (now known as Mayflower High School) and an automotive dealership/repair shop called "The Drive-In". In 1955, when Pulaski County merged with neighboring Noble County to form Vandalia County, Cabot became part of that new county. However, due to economic reasons it experienced steady decline until 1986 when it briefly regained some prosperity with the opening of a small shopping center by then- mayor Vernon Dickey Jr.. That factory closed down soon afterwards though and Cabot's fortunes eventually reversed back again until 2000 when an influx of refugees caused several businesses in town to fail or close down due to low customer demand which caused unemployment rates in the area reaching 10%. At present only one business remains open - The Drive-In which has since been bought out by another business owner - making Cabot one of Arkansas' poorest towns overall Despite this dismal state however there are still people living here who continue their traditions including music festivals throughout summertime while also hosting annual rodeos like those held at nearby Rogers Park each fall
