Cabot, Arkansas is a small town located in the Ozarks of central Arkansas. The town was founded in 1875 by James W. Cabot and his wife Lillie. The Cabots had come from Knoxville, Tennessee and were farmers. They built a post office and a store in the town. The first policeman in Cabot was John Gorman, who served from 1876 to 1886. He was replaced by Amos Hodge in 1886. Hodge served until 1889. In 1890, John Pritchard became the first white officer to serve in Cabot when he joined the force as a police constable. He served until 1896. From 1896 to 1912, Arthur Fenton was the Officer in Chief of Police for Cabot Township (later renamed DNS). In 1912, Fenton resigned due to illness and was replaced by Harry Kittleman Jr., who served until 1933. In 1933, Joseph Aiken became the first black officer on the force when he joined as an officer of police with DNS (later renamed Cabot Police Department). Heserved until 1966 when he retired due to health problems. In 1966, Richard Nixon became the first black officer on duty with DPS (now DHS) when he joined as an officer of public safety with DPS (now DHS). Nixon serving until 1992 when he retired due to health problems at age 70 years old.. During Richard Nixon's tenure as Police Chief there were 3 different promotions within DPS which included Sergeant First Class through Lieutenant Colonel while also being captain of Patrol Squadron One Hundred Eighteenth Airborne Division which is active today and providing security for major events such as Presidential inaugurations etc... Today there are currently 8 officers on duty with cabot PD including 2 chiefs - one female - Anthony Smith and her boss Kathleen Slaughter along with Captains David Sawaya and Randall Howle both of whom have been with us since before we opened our doors!

Cabot is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Springdale Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first person to settle in what is now Cabot was John Fenton who built a cabin in 1824 on land that he donated to the Presbyterian Church. In 1828, Wm. Haggerty purchased some of Fenton's land and began to plat out a community called "Haggertyville". He also developed a mill which functioned until 1840 when it caught on fire and burned down. In 1836, Isaac Askey established the first school in Cabot Township which he taught from an old log building on his farmstead. The first post office was established at Cabot in 1843 by John Dillard with A.S. Ryder serving as clerk until 1850 when David English took over operations for three years before George Pritchett took over for seven years until 1865 when Edward Sills became the Postmaster General and continued operation until 1870 when it moved to Springdale where it remains to this day as the primary mail service provider for the metropolitan area

The Bottses named their community after their father, Christopher Cabot, an American explorer who had traveled to India and China. In 1828, the couple built a house on the current site of Cabot. The town grew rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s, thanks to its lucrative lumber business. By 1850, Cabot had a population of around 100 people. It continued to grow throughout the 19th century until it reached its peak around 1920 with a population of 500 people. After World War II, Cabot declined as it lost its economic significance due to changes in technology and development in neighboring towns. However, it has since been reborn as a small community with a focus on history and culture.
