The communitygdrew its present form when a railroad construction company built a depot in 1913 and established a town hall and other buildings here. The Camden School District serves Camden students from PreKindergarten through grade 9. According to the United States Census Bureau, Camden has a total area of , all land. As of the census of 2010, there were 1,846 people residing in this town. 78% were White (non-Hispanic), 21% African American, 0% Native American or Alaska Native; 2% Asian; 1% Pacific Islander; and 3% from two or more races.
