This coffeehouse was founded by Elijah Howe in 18th century Conway. In 1892, The CoffeeHouse became known as the first regular stop for railroad passengers travelling between Little Rock and Fort Smith. In 1925, The CoffeeHouse moved to its current location on University Avenue near Central High School. At this time it became one of the most popular venues for local musicians and poets to gather during lunchtime. The CoffeeHouse closed its doors in 1980, but reopened as a cat café called Purrfect Cat Café in 1984. It served hot chocolate, salads and sandwiches until 1990 when it closed again due to budgetary constraints. However, it reopened as a coffee shop called Conway's First National Bank Cafe in 1995 which remains open today. In 2000, McCafferty's Brewery opened up shop inside of The CoffeeHouse on University Avenue which would later become known as Conway's first microbrewery/café! As of 2018, McCafferty's Brewery is still open and serving up delicious brews!

Conway was platted in 1871 by J.W. Converse and named for General James H. Conway who had been killed in action during the Mexican–American War two years earlier. The town began to boom after the railroad arrived in 1883 and development continued until World War II when production peaked thanks to the nearby aluminum smelters. After the war, Conway experienced a decline as manufacturing moved out and its economy relied on agriculture until recently when it has seen an resurgence with new businesses beginning to open up including a couple of dry cleaners and a computer store which helped fill some of the gap left by industry's departure. The population of Conway increased from 1,569 at the 2000 census to 2,034 at the 2010 census due largely to migration from neighboring Pulaski County which has lost most of its industrial base since 2002 when several major employers closed their doors citing competition from online retailers such as Amazon and Walmart. However, there are also many residents who have chosen to live here permanently because of its stability and low cost of living relative to other locations in Pulaski County (which includes Little Rock).

Conway was founded in 1911 by John and Lillie Conway. The town had been platted in 1881, as a farming community on the edge of the Arkansas Valley. It reached its peak in the 1920s with a population of around 1,500 people. In 1930, however, the economic crash caused many businesses to close, and the town lost its share of the cotton trade that had originally supported it. In later decades, Conway developed into an agricultural center with a small commercial sector. However, it is also home to several schools and churches. Today there are only a few hundred residents living in Conway proper; most of its population resides in nearby rural areas surrounding the town. John Conway died in 1984 and his wife Lillie continued to live there until her death in 2006.
Conway, Arkansas was settled in 1827 and became a town in 1831. The first post office was established in Conway in 1836. In 1865, the town of Conway Confederate Army Cemetery was created.
