In 1865, when the Union army surrendered at Appomattox Court House, the Forrest City Guards were among the last units to surrender. Since its inception as a unit of the National Guard in 1861, Forrest City Guardsmen have served their state and nation with distinction. They have fought in many battles including World War I and II; served in international peacekeeping missions; and helped maintain law and order during this country’s most recent social unrest. Today, Forrest City Guardsmen are composed of Reservists from all over the United States who contribute their time to provide essential services to our community. Forrest City is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 5,752 at the 2010 census. Forrest City is the county seat of Pulaski County. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway, AR metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1881 as a result of the Arkansas Purchase from Mexico. The land purchase included what is now Forrest City and portions of Pine Bluff and Rogers counties. The first post office was established in 1882, and the first store was built in 1883. In 1893, Forrest City became an incorporated town under the name Forrestville. In 1907, it changed its name to Forest City after Elijah Epps Forest who had donated $10 for that purpose. In 1912, it changed its name again to Forrest city after Waddell Crampton II who gave another $10 for that purpose . From 1909-1912 there were two mayors: Averill Hoyle and Orson Crouch Hillman (who also served as postmaster). On July 1st 1915 when Pulaski County merged with Arkadelphia County to become Howard County my new mayor Averill Hoyle died suddenly leaving his widow Edna Mower Hoyle to take over mayoral duties until he could be elected again at a special election which took place on November 3rd 1915 which she won by 12 votes over challenger John Pritchard (IRA)

Bowie as America's 36th president and first Native American to hold that office (the only non-white person to serve in that capacity). The town grew rapidly during World War I due to increased logging activity on nearby Mountain Top National Forest; during Prohibition (1921–1927), Forrest City became one of several Arkansas towns that made use of bootlegging operations to support prohibitionism; and afterward, the local economy boomed due to new construction jobs in Arkansas state government and private industry development in post-warArkansas
Forrest City was founded in 1875 by a group of investors from Arkansas. The town grew quickly and soon became a center for cotton trading and farming. Forrest City was named after General James F. Forrest, who led the Confederate army during the American Civil War. In 1907, Forrest City became the first city in Arkansas to have its own electric company.
