Harrison is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,748 at the 2010 census. Harrison is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Aurora, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Town of Harrison was established in 1872 when the area that now includes Harrison and parts of North Little Rock were split off from the Township of Canby. It was named for Colonel James H. Harrison (1824-1900), a Confederate general who fought in the American Civil War and later served as United States Senator from Arkansas. The town became a city on February 14, 1978, when it merged withnorth Little Rock. Harrison has one high school: Harrison High School which opened in fall 2005 and serves students from pre-K through 12th grade; four elementary schools: Indian Head Elementary School serving children ages K-5; White Sands Elementary School serving grades 6-8; East Hills Elementary School serving grades 9-11; and McCullough Middle/High School serving students aged 12th to 16th grade. There are also two museums located within the town limits: First National Bank Museum located on Main Street between Spring and Elm Streets ; the Patton State Historical Park located off US Highway 65 north of town on Patton Road .

In 1836, Harrison was the center of a slave revolt that occurred in the state of Arkansas. The slaves revolted because they were unhappy with their situation and wanted to end slavery in Arkansas. The slaves managed to free themselves and some of them fled to Missouri. However, most of the slaves remained in Arkansas and rebelled again in 1839. This time, they succeeded and forced Governor James K. Polk to send troops against them. After a long battle, the rebels were defeated and most of them died. Harrison was one of the few places where slave rebellions occurred in Arkansas during its early years as a state.
