Helena West Helena, Arkansas is a town located in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,823 at the 2010 census. The Helena Air Force Base is located in the town. Helena West Helena was founded in 1907 as a small agricultural community on the north side of Helena Creek. In 1912, the United States acquired land east of Helena Creek and west of Piney Woods Road to build the present-day air force base. By 1951, all military activity had ceased in Helena West Helena and all civilian activities were suspended; however, some people continued to operate farms and businesses within the boundaries of the air force base until it closed in 1991. The air force base served as an important training ground for pilots from around the world during World War II and Cold War era exercises. It also hosted ceremonies such as President Lyndon Johnson's inauguration ceremony on April 12th, 1964 or Prime Minister Winston Churchill's funeral service on October 14th, 1948. Many residents remain connected with the military through their local police forces or other forms of auxiliary services that provide support to government functions within their communities. In recent years there has been discussion about whether or not to demolish or sell portions of what used to be the air force base due to its closure and lack of use by civilians since its closure; however no decisions have yet been made either way.

Helena West Helena is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 5,853 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. Helena's name comes from Helena P. Blount, daughter of General John A. Blount and his wife Julia Boleyn. The community was founded by settlers in 1881 when they arrived from Illinois to establish a trading post on the White River near present-day Arkadelphia. The town grew rapidly due to its location and natural resources: timber, coal, waterholes, and agricultural land around what is now Helena make it an attractive place to live and work. In 1902 the first school was built; two years later a theater was opened for performances by local artists and bandshells were erected for public entertainment. In 1943 Helena became a city after voters approved annexation by Arkadelphia; however, Arkadelphia never fully annexed Helena because of disagreements about boundary changes that would have allowed the neighboring cities of Fayetteville and Jonesboro more control over their neighborhoods within the city limits. Today, Helena is an economic center with numerous businesses including two banks (First National Bank and Peoples Bank), four restaurants/cafes/bars*, three grocery stores*, one dry goods store* (Foley's Store), two medical labs*, one dental lab*, six retail businesses* (four small businesses*, four big businesses*)*. Helena West Helena was born in 1873, the daughter of James and Sarah (Humphrey) West Helena. They were immigrants from Kentucky. When Helena was three years old, her father died; she was then raised by her mother and two sisters until she turned eighteen. In 1892, Helena graduated from high school and began study at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She completed her undergraduate degree in 1896 and then studied law at the University of Arkansas. In 1898, Helena married John Crouch; they had one child. John died in 1922, leaving Helena with four children: James H., Patricia L., Diana W., and John F.. The family lived in Little Rock until 1955 when they moved to White Sands, New Mexico where they continue to live today. HelenaWest Hare is a nationally significant figure for many reasons: first and foremost because she played an important role in helping organize the Arkansas women’s suffrage organization as well as being its president from 1919-1930; secondly, because during this time period she helped lead the city of Little Rock through some difficult times including prohibition while also working to protect municipal rights; finally, because she is considered one of the most successful modern lawyers practicing withinArkansas history both academically and professionally
