The Arkansas National Guard is a unit of the United States Army. The guard was formed on November 16, 1907 as the Arkansas Infantry Regiment (1st Brigade) and became an all-volunteer force on May 15, 1912. The regiment was redesignated the Arkansas National Guard on October 1, 1918. The current name was first given to the unit when it became a part of the First Armored Division in 1951 during the Korean War. On July 4, 1907, Governor James A. Fayette offered to create an all-VolunteerForce militia to protect state rights in north central Arkansas under three brigades of infantrymen with artillery support. On August 12th of that year, General John T. Sherman accepted Governor Fayette's offer and named 1st Brigade "Arkansas Infantry Regiment" effective November 16th with headquarters at Fort Smith until ordered south by orders from Washington D.C.. In 1912 Colonel John Pemberton assigned Battalion C Company (Light Machine Gun) to serve as Headquarters Company with Headquarters and Service Battery at Little Rock Arsenal while also taking command of Squadron Manton Field Artillery which had been reactivated February 6th 1911 from Battery H (2nd Missouri Light Artillery). In 1915 Colonel Pemberton organized and commanded Squadron LMA at Springfield Armory where he remained until his retirement in 1925 due to illness which caused him to vacate assignment 5/15/1918 On October 1st 1918 Major General Augustus Ewing authorized creation of new brigade consisting of original 1st Brigade elements plus 2nd Battalion ARNG light machine gun company activated 9/10/17 from battery B 3rd Iowa Heavy Artillery units were also added: these reinforcements made up for deficiencies in old brigade including lack of cavalry ability east of White River although squadron field artillery was transferred 10/4/17 from battery I 8th Iowa Light Artillery companies arrived 11/6/18 at Pine Bluff: these companies fortified Camp Robinson near Arkadelphia 10 miles west bank Telegraph road between Thatcher’s Creek & Pine Bluff rivers after 4 days long ride arriving before dark 11 days previous A total strength for both armies prior to deployment was 27 Officers & 100 NCOs; however this number would swell considerably as mobilization proceeded with additional battalion activation throughout country

Hope is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Hope is included in the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Fort Smith Metropolitan Statistical Area. Hope was founded in 1881 by settlers from Missouri and Illinois. It became a town on May 20, 1907. Hope had a post office from 1907 to 1951. In 1959, it lost its municipal status and became part of the North Little Rock city limits. When North Little Rock merged with Fort Smith in 1997, Hope also merged with that city.

After World War II, the National Guard became an all-volunteer force with no paid employees. However, certain missions or functions (such as Search and Rescue) are still assigned by individual governors through executive orders (EODs). These special missions may be called upon by Governors only if there is a high level of public interest or alarm; otherwise they are done by state police forces under state jurisdiction.

Hope, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. The name Hope comes from the Choctaw word hOPE (hope for peace). Hope was founded in 1881 by John W. Dickson and his wife Emma Dickson as a farmstead on the north bank of White River within present-day Hope County. In 1886, when Hope was named after General Anthony Wayne's victory over Native Americans at Battle of Horseshoe Bend, the family had to abandon their home because they could not afford to keep it up with repairs and additions needed to maintain it as a military post. In 1901-1902, J.D. Snead added two more rooms and an office to what became known as "The Globe" building on Main Street in downtown Hope; this structure served as both the Post Office and store until 1945 when its use changed again when the first Elementary School was built there – now known aselementary school No. 2 in downtown Hope – also serving as a community center from 1951 until its demolition in 1979/1980 due to its age and decrepit condition; courthouse which stands today on Main Street between First Avenue South and Second Avenue North served briefly beginning in 1907 before being moved to what is now Shreveport Boulevard where it still stands (but tenantied by various businesses since then) between 1915-1997 before becoming property of Pulaski County government again beginning in 1997 following countywide consolidation futurizing all municipal governments into one entity under Pulaski County government budgeting authority Hope has seen many changes throughout its history: firstly white settlers arrived during Reconstruction period; black citizens came during World War II; Hillbilly Barbecue opened shop here circa 1950s giving hope some much needed patronage during hard times; development took hold centered around post office buildings which attracted businessmen such as Don King who started construction on what is now KNLS Radio Station(now KOTV) 1974 & 1978 & gift shops began opening among other businesses Downtown starting about 1975 along with new housing erected for workers commuting into town Fed Ex warehouse established here about 1984 also included new business park off main street adjacent thereto later renamed Gulley Park
