The United States Air Force deployed a gift to the Jacksonville community in 1969. The gift was two F-4 Phantom jets. These jets were donated by the USAF and used for training missions in Kuwait during the Vietnam War. The jets were then returned to the United States Air Force and parked at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. In 2001, they were moved back to Jacksonville and are now on display at MacDill AFB as part of the USAF Museum of History and Heritage. Jacksonville, Arkansas is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 5,849 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. Jacksonville has a humid subtropical climate (Cfa) and is part of the Little Rock–Fayetteville–Springdale Combined Statistical Area. The first settler in Jacksonville was Simeon Hammond from England who arrived in 1836. He built a cabin on what is now State Street and named it after his home country of England. Hammond's cabin served as the town's first post office from 1837 to 1840. In 1841, Hammonds grandson John Hargrave moved to Jacksonville and started an ice cream business called The General Store with his wife Sarah Jane Thornton. The store continued until 1907 when it closed because of World War I restrictions on ice cream sales by military personnel stationed overseas. In 1846, Isaac Acheson bought land on what is now Middlemiss Boulevard which he used for farming and grazing animals until he developed a cattle station called "Acheson's Station" in 1850; later renamed "Acheson Place". In 1856, Acheson married Martha Baird and they started to sell eggs at their farmstead before moving into real estate development in 1861 when they purchased land near present-day Third Street and Park Avenue for $5 per acre ($ over ). They built two brick homes there – one on Third Street between Park Avenue and North Fourth Street (later known as State House Square), the other on North Fourth Street between Park Avenue and South Fifth Street (later known as Interstate 20/Upper Mississippi Highway). When word spread that Andrew Johnson had been elected President on November 4th 1865, many citizens of Jacksonville traveled to Fayetteville to celebrate with local food stalls set up throughout downtown streetside areas including Old National Bank building where social hour began at 6 PM; First Baptist Church where Pastor Jno.[?] Wright preached sermon starting at 7 PM; Post Office Building complex across South First Streetsite; Merchants Exchange Building Complex across West Second Streetsite - all within blocks of each other! When Confederate forces invaded Arkansas during the American Civil War on April 12th 1862 under General Robert E Lee, Jacksonville came under Confederate control due to its strategic location midway between Memphis, Tennessee (to the north) and Little Rock (southwest), Ark., making it easy for Confederate troops to move through Pulaski County unimpeded while supplies were brought upriver via boats or wagons crossing Coweta Creek directly into Jacksonport Landing just south of present day downtown Jacksonville. As Union forces advanced intoJacksonport Landing en route to Nashville some residents abandoned their residences along Coweta Creek for more centralized defensive positioning inside Jacksonport Landing proper although most everyone remaining chose not fight against Union forces but instead fled eastwards towards modern-day Mountain Home Cityscape which lay less than three miles away immediately south of Fort Gibson Army Basecamp even though most people living within today’s boundaries of Mountain Home Cityscape would have been hardpressed enough fighting uphill against well-trained Union Forces defending much larger positions without any support from friendly civilians living nearby . After Ulysses S Grant became Commander in Chief field army during July 1865 after Vicksburg was captured by Federal Forces following successful Siege & breakout attempt authorized by Ulysses S Grant et al., all persons or property within limits hereinbefore mentioned excepted were confiscated or sold according to lawul[?] order books etcetera still extant among former occupants thereof probably awaiting disposition hereafter

In 1842, Jacksonville's role as a center for trade and commerce increased when the Northern Pacific Railroad began construction through central Arkansas. With its growing population and economic clout, Jacksonville soon became known as "The Cotton Capital of the World." As growth in Jacksonville continued, so too did problemsatical behavior by some residents. In 1857, Mayor Augustus M. Godfrey issued a proclamation ordering all white citizens to leave town until order could be restored. Following this incident, many African Americans moved to Jacksonville to escape discrimination or violence at home. This migration helped drive down crime rates in Jacksonville during its early years, but eventually these improvements faded away as racial tension mounted throughout much of America during the 1860s and 1870s. Confederate forces invaded Arkansas in 1861 and small pockets of black people survived skirmishes until 1865 when they were finally forced out of their homes by General Robert E Lee's army under pressure from North Carolina Yankees seeking revenge for Brown v Boardman (1858).
